A Perfect Circle

Rock On The Range is celebrating its Fifth
Anniversary. The festival, set for May 21-22 at Columbus Crew Stadium in Columbus, Ohio, will feature a
spectacular lineup of rock heavyweights including A Perfect Circle (first performance of 2011), Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed, Korn, Stone Sour and Staind (first performance in two
years). The weekend will also be highlighted by performances from Danzig, Hollywood Undead, Bullet For My Valentine, Black Label Society and Alter Bridge. In addition, Juliya
of Fuse TV will return as the Mistress of Ceremonies for the event.

A special Rock on the Range ticket pre-sale will take place from Wednesday, February 9 at 10:00 AM (ET) through
Friday, February 11 at 10:00 PM (ET). For details on pre-sale, go to: www.facebook.com/rockontherange. Tickets go on sale to
the general public Saturday, February 12 at 10:00 AM (ET). Two-day weekend festival passes start at just $99.50

General Motors’ revival: Living in lean times

Lower costs and newer models help GM to survive in a shrunken market

DAN AKERSON, the boss of General Motors, will be spending plenty of time on the road over the next few days, hoping to persuade sceptical investors to cough up $13 billion in the carmaker’s initial public offering (ipo), expected later in the month. They have plenty of reason to be cautious, considering the hammering that share- and bondholders took during the firm’s two-month dash through the bankruptcy courts last year.

Nevertheless, Mr Akerson, a former telecoms boss, believes he has some strong selling-points. Having run up huge losses during some of the best times America’s auto industry ever had, GM is now showing solid profits in the midst of some of the industry’s worst years. On November 10th GM said it had made $2 billion between July and September—its third quarterly profit in a row—in a market that is struggling to reach annual sales of 11.5m, about 6m below its peak in the mid-2000s. Mr Akerson and his management team are suggesting that if sales continue to recover GM might be capable of annual pre-tax profits of up to $19 billion. Even if they do not reach previous peaks, the radical shake-up of GM imposed by its bankruptcy plan was designed to ensure that it stays in the black even at the Depression-era levels to which sales recently fell. …

Private investor Peter Lim makes general offer for Thomson Medical Centre

Sasteria, an investment holding company controlled by private investor Peter Lim, today said it is making a mandatory conditional cash offer for Mainboard-listed Thomson Medical Centre.

The mandatory conditional offer is triggered by a married deal between Sasteria and the largest shareholder and founder of Thomson Medical, Dr Cheng Wei Chen and his family. Under the deal, the latter sold their 39.34% stake in Thomson Medical to the former at the offer price of S$1.75 a share.

Deputy PM to attend IAEA General Conference

Serbian Deputy PM Božidar Đelić will head Serbia’s delegation at the 54th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) in Vienna Monday.
