Global Logistic flat; Ignores MSCI Index addition

Addition of Global Logistic Properties (MC0.SG) to MSCI Singapore Index at MSCI’s semi-annual review not moving stock much, says Dow Jones.

GLP flat at $2.23 on low volume of 8.3 million shares; stock’s addition effective Dec 1.

While usually addition of security to globally prominent benchmark would boost stock on expectation of increased investor following, GLP’s size, prominence mean entry into index was largely expected, priced in.

GLP raised $3.9 billion in 2nd largest IPO in Singapore’s history; shares have risen 13.8% from IPO price of $1.96 since Oct 18 listing. Singapore’s GIC sovereign wealth fund had 56.8% stake post IPO, with lock-up period of 12 months.

Singapore shares are likely to rise on Thursday after gains on Wall Street overnight although lower than expected earnings by market heavyweight Singapore Telecommunications (STEL.SI) may weigh on sentiment.

SingTel, Southeast Asia’s largest telecoms firm, reported lower-than-expected quarterly profit, partly due to the cost of acquisitions by its Indian ally. Its July-September net profit was $892 million, down from $956 million a year ago.

The plan may have been to explode them en route, perhaps as the plane was landing. Sound Global +1.7%; Jiangsu project boosts credentials

Sound Global (E6E.SG) +1.7% at $0.890 after firm says it signs plant project agreement for treatment of industrial, domestic sewage in Jiangsu, China, according to Dow Jones.

Build-operate-transfer project scale at 60,000 tonnes/day; phase one investment about RMB130 million ($25.1 million), operational service tariff is RMB2.38/tonne with 28-year concession period.

DMG says recent show flat visit for launch of prime condominium in Bukit Timah, with healthy visitor turnout, take-up, coupled with recent good sales of Allgreen’s (A16.SG) Suites at Orchard, “have reinforced our positive view on the high-end segment, where buyers are undeterred by the recent government measures.”

House understands that developers readying several high-end launches over next 3-6 months, i.e. Robinson Suites, Spottiswoode Residences, Helios Residences.

CSE Global unit wins 2 contracts totalling $55m

CSE Global today announced that Transtel Engineering, its fully-owned subsidiary, has recently won two contracts worth a total of $55 million in the Middle East and Russia.

The first contract is awarded by a major Korean-based EPC contractor for the turnkey development of a telecommunication network infrastructure for an onshore/offshore gas field development in the Persian Gulf.

Top Global +200%; part of Capitol redevelopment

Top Global (519.SG) +200% at $0.015 with volume spiking to 489 million shares, accounting for over third of market’s volume so far; real estate penny stock buoys FTSE ST Catalist index, +33%.

Trader at local brokerage says “they have been mentioned as one of the participants in the Capitol redevelopment project, recently there was also a big rights issue, so I suspect that there are some blocks crossing hands among friendly parties. But I don’t know the specifics of any particular transaction.”

Top Global surges on site tender win

Shares of Singapore real estate firm Top Global <TPGB.SI> surged as much as 200% on Thursday after a local newspaper reported that it had won a tender for a landmark site as part of a group of investors.

At 0218 GMT, Top Global shares were trading at $0.015 on a volume of about 490 million shares.

Starhill Global REIT posts 38.7% rise in 3Q revenue to $45.2m

YTL Starhill Global today announced that Starhill Global REIT’s 3Q 2010 revenue was $45.2 million, 38.7% higher than that achieved in 3Q 2009. Net property income was higher at $35.8 million, representing an increase of 37.0% over 3Q 2009, mainly attributed to contribution from the recently acquired Starhill Gallery and Lot 10 in Malaysia, and David Jones Building in Australia.

Lion Global says Gerard Lee to join as CEO

Singapore-based money manager Lion Global Investors said on Tuesday Gerard Lee is joining as CEO with effect from Nov 16.

Lion is an arm of Singapore’s second largest lender Oversea-Chinese Banking Corp (OCBC.SI) with total assets under management of about $29.4 billion.

 
Its previous CEO Daniel Chan resigned in July but was staying on until a replacement was chosen.
 
Lee was previously CEO of Fullerton Fund Management, a unit of state investor Temasek.

Global Logistic jumps in debut of $3.45b IPO: Update

Global Logistic Properties jumped 11% on its first trading day after raising $3.45 billion in Singapore’s biggest initial public offering since 1993.

Global Logistic, the overseas logistics unit of Government of Singapore Investment Corp., advanced to $2.17 at the close of trading from the sale price of $1.96 a share, after earlier reaching $2.19. The stock was sold at the top end of the range marketed to investors.
