Belgrade sees “two realities” in Kosovo

Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović says there are “two realities in Kosovo”, one south and the other north of the Ibar River. Bogdanović stated for the Belgrade-based daily Politika on Wednesday that “the fact that Serbs south of the Ibar River took part in the (Kosovo) elections despite the recommendation of the Serbian government does not mean anything” as the Kosovo Albanian authorities in PriÅ¡tina “aim to divide Kosovo Serbs in any possible way.”

Kosovo talks by year’s end, says minister

Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanović says that serious Kosovo negotiations can be expected after the elections in the province. The voting will take place on December 12, and Bogdanović told Belgrade daily Večernje Novosti that talks between Belgrade and PriÅ¡tina “could take place as soon as on December 18″.

“Government doesn’t wish to divide Serbs”

Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović says that the government will respect Serbs who enter the Kosovo Albanian institutions. This despite its announcement that there were no conditions for Serbs to take part in the December elections, Bogdanović said.

Kosovo minister: Decision made after serious analyses

Serbian government’s decision that there are no conditions for Kosovo Serbs to vote in the elections was made after serious analysis, Goran Bogdanović said.

“We took into account the real situation in the field which is complex, because the position of Serbs differs depending on the part of the province in which they live,” Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović told Belgrade-based daily Politika.

The Serbian government has decided not to call on the Serbian population in Kosovo to vote in the early elections. The authorities in Kosovo have not allowed Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović to visit the village of Prilužje, near Obilić.

“Monastery decision will not improve security”

The minister for Kosovo says the KFOR decision to turn over the protection of Serbian Orthodox monasteries to the Kosovo police, KPS, will not improve security.
The move will breed more uncertainty and mistrust among Kosovo Serbs, Goran Bogdanović stated on Thursday, when the security of the Gračanica monastery near a Serb enclave in central Kosovo was entrusted to KPS.

“Belgrade won’t infringe on rights in Kosovo”

EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, chief Yves de Kermabon is expected in Belgrade today. He is due to meet with Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović, and officials in charge of the judiciary.

Kosovo minister: Serbia favors new negotiations

“Serbia keeps insisting on new negotiations with Kosovo because joint European future awaits all communities,” Goran Bogdanović was quoted as saying. “We wish to solve problems through talks, we want peace, because there cannot be happiness for anybody, not only in Kosovo, but also in Serbia, in the entire Balkans,” the minister for Kosovo said.

Kosovo administration to be decreased

Serbian Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanović said that the size of the Kosovo administration must be decreased, but not drastically. He told daily Blic that there are 3,500 administrative officials in the 28 southern Kosovo municipalities, which is too much of a strain on the state budget, and said that three officials would be able to do most of the work needed in the ethnically pure municipalities of Kosovo.

Minister for Kosovo calls for agreement

Minister for Kosovo Minister Goran Bogdanović has called on Serbs in the Kosovo enclave of Štrpce to refrain from conflicts and work together. “We have to do everything we can to overcome the divisions in the Serb community (in the Štrpce municipality), because it does not help us,” Bogdanović told B92, speaking about the conflicts between the two Serb local administration in the municipality elected in separate elections.

Minister for Kosovo meets with UNMIK chief

Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović has meet with the UN mission in Kosovo, UNMIK, chief Lamberto Zannier. The two discussed the mission’s future role, and the need for it to act in a status-neutral manner, a statement from the ministry said this Thursday in Belgrade.
