“Del Ponte office destroyed evidence”

An adviser to the current chief Hague Tribunal prosecutor says it was Carla Del Ponte’s office that destroyed evidence in the Kosovo organ trade case. “It would likely be easier had we kept the material. That was an unfortunate decision,” Frederick Swinnen told Belgrade’s Blic daily.

Serbia: CoE should adopt recommendations

Serbia will request the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to adopt recommendations regarding Dick Marty’s report, says Rasim Ljajić.

Ljajić, head of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, told B92 that those recommendations would oblige the EU ministers to help the investigation.

Belgrade calls on EULEX to take responsibility

Rasim Ljajić said in Strasbourg in Monday that the EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, should assume responsibility for the Kosovo organ trade. The chairman of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal said that EULEX should also process as soon as possible the cases of trafficking in human organs.

DNA samples destroyed, forensics expert says

Former head of the UNMIK Forensics and Missing Persons Office Jose Pablo Baraybar said that 400 DNA samples of victims kidnapped in Kosovo were destroyed.

He added that the samples had been destroyed in Germany, with approval of the Hague Tribunal.

EU to monitor reports from Hague Tribunal

Although the EU has praised Serbia’s good results regarding reforms and implementation of the SAA, it will carefully monitor reports from the Hague Tribunal.

Hague reduces jail time for ex-JNA officer

The Appeals Chamber of the Hague Tribunal today decided to reduce the sentence handed down to Veselin Å ljivančanin. The former Yugoslav People’s Army (JNA) officer was sent to jail for 17 years for assisting the torture and involvement in the murder of 194 Croat prisoners near Vukovar in 1991.

“WikiLeaks won’t reveal information on Mladić”

Serbian Labor Minister Rasim Ljajić stated on Friday that he had misgivings that WikiLeaks could reveal important information about whereabouts of Ratko Mladić. “I am skeptical that certain important information could be made public. The data that have been revealed so far refer to talks with officials and impressions about certain politicians rather than concrete information on Mladić,” the minister, who is the president of the National Council for Cooperation with the Hague Tribunal, said.

Opposition party “to sack high official”

The opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) might dismiss deputy chairman of its main board (GO) Božidar Delić over different views on the Hague Tribunal.

The SNS presidency will decide on Delić’s fate next week and chances are that he will be “relieved of his duty”, daily Večernje Novosti reported.

SNS leader in favor of arresting Mladić

Opposition SNS party leader Tomislav Nikolić says Serbia should fulfill its obligations toward the Hague Tribunal, i.e. that Ratko Mladić should be arrested. Analysts assess that Belgrade does not have any important news for Hague Tribunal Chief Prosecutor Serge Brammerz who will visit Serbia tomorrow.

They say that the main topic of the talks will be arrest of the remaining Hague fugitives.

Hague: Karadžić trial suspended

The Hague Tribunal trial of Radovan Karadžić has been suspended for one month, said reports. This came as the defense asked for time to review documents that were disclosed late by the prosecution.
