HP Upgrades Itanium-Powered NonStop Servers

As part of the commemoration of the 35th anniversary of the systems, Hewlett-Packard says it is upgrading its Itanium-based Integrity NonStop servers to enable users to increase capacity, improve performance and integrate with such open-source software as Spring and Apache Axis2. The NonStop systems were first developed by Tandem, which was bought by Compaq, which was later bought by HP.

HP Partners with Microsoft, Novell, Red Hat in Courting Sun Users

HP, which has been aggressive in enticing Sun customers, is partnering with operating systems makers Microsoft, Novell and Red Hat in its efforts. The partnerships are part of HPs overall Sun Complete Care program, a collection of products, services, support and financial incentives designed to lure customers worried about Suns future over to HP. Over the past year, about 350 Sun customers have made the move, according to HP.

HP Makes Security, Maintenance Upgrades to HP-UX 11i

HP is enhancing the security and maintenance capabilities to its Unix operating system, HP-UX 11i v3. Data center administrators can now add security patches to 100 servers at a time, and HP bulked up its access security through support for Bastille technology. The upgrades come as HP looks to entice Sun customers who may be worried about the Oracle acquisition to come to HP.
