Feith: Kosovo needs credible government

International Civilian Office (ICO) Head Pieter Feith said Friday that he expected that people under investigation would not be part of a new Kosovo government.

He explained that it would undermine Kosovo’s credibility and reputation in Brussels and Washington, and added that he was concerned over Kosovo’s stand regarding CoE rapporteur Dick Marty’s report.

Jeremić responds to Feith comments

FM Vuk Jeremić today commented on Pieter Feith’s claim that he was surprised by the statement of Serbian President Boris Tadić regarding Kosovo talks. Feith addressed a committee of the European Parliament on Thursday in his capacity of EU’s special representative in Kosovo. He is also the head of the International Civilian Office (ICO) in PriÅ¡tina.

“EULEX in Kosovo at least two more years”

The EU mission will remain in Kosovo at least two more years despite opposite claims of Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci. Albanian language daily Koha Ditore writes that International Civilian Office (ICO) Spokesman Andy McGuffie said that despite “some results there were still many areas that demanded a lot of work in implementation of Martti Ahtisaari’s plan”.

Council of Europe discusses Kosovo

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) is today discussing the situation in Kosovo, said reports. Pieter Feith spoke about Kosovo at the European Parliament (EP) headquarters in Strasbourg in his capacity as head of the International Civilian Office (ICO) in PriÅ¡tina. He is also EU’s representative in the province.

“Feith abusing double office”

Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović says EU’s representative Pieter Feith “did not speak as an EU official” when he predicted new recognitions of Kosovo. Feith, who also heads the International Civilian Office (ICO) in PriÅ¡tina, said in Brussels on Tuesday that after the International Court of Justice (ICJ) delivers its opinion on the legality of the unilateral independence declaration, new recognitions would follow.

“New phase in Kosovo with ICJ decision”

EU Special Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith said that Kosovo is on the threshold of a new phase. Speaking in Washington on Tuesday, the Dutch diplomat, who also heads the International Civilian Office (ICO) in PriÅ¡tina, added that the ICJ’s opinion may encourage Belgrade and PriÅ¡tina to solve technical issues together.

Pieter Feith says that the International Civil Office (ICO) does not want armed conflicts in northern Kosovo. “We can’t change with a magic wand what has been happening for years in northern Kosovo. Preparatory team for “North Mitrovica”

The ICO chief Pieter Feith has appointed 14 members of the “Municipal Preparatory Team for the new municipality of North Mitrovica”. The ICO has announced that this team has a technical mandate to prepare resources, funds and administrative structures necessary for the future establishment and functioning of the new municipality.

Participants in the Assembly of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija yesterday rejected the so-called integration plan for northern Kosovo. The plan was announced by the ICO and the Kosovo Albanian government in Priština, and aims to bring the northern, Serb areas under control.
