China New Town +5.8%; Dual HK listing imminent

China New Town Development (D4N.SG) +5.8% at $0.180, 3rd most active stock on SGX today, on news company expects trading in its shares on Hong Kong bourse to commence October 22; listing by way of introduction only, so no shares being issued or sold in connection with listing, says Dow Jones. 

Developer of new towns in suburban areas of Chinese cities, listed in Singapore since November 2007, said in May that it was seeking dual primary listing in HK.

Weekend comment May 21: Rebound imminent but rough ride ahead

THE STRAITS TIMES Index retreated 1.9% on Friday to close the week at 2,701.20 after US jobless claims rose and concern grew that the eurozone will fail to contain the spread of the region’s sovereign debt crisis.
The gauge, which has fallen 11% from its April 14 closing high, slumped 5.4% this week. Some analysts and traders refer to a decline of 10% or more as a correction. Twenty-eight stocks on the 30-member benchmark index declined.

Deal on Greece aid appears imminent

Tensions caused by the Greek debt crisis appear to be easing following assurances by EU officials that an agreement on aid will be reached in a matter of days. Global markets have been in turmoil as the debt crisis threatened to spread to other countries. But consensus that the relief package will be larger than originally expected is helping to shore up confidence in the euro, which has fallen precipitously in recent days.

Ascendas flat; rental rebound not imminent, says Morgan Stanley

Ascendas REIT (A17U.SG) is flat at $1.98 in thin trade as weaker 1Q10 results keeping buyers at bay, says Dow Jones.

“A recovery in industrial rents typically lags the economic cycle, and positive rental reversions are still a few quarters down the road,” says Morgan Stanley, which has Equalweight call with $1.96 target.

Palm WebOS 1.4 for Pre, Pixi Smartphones Imminent

Palm is expected to push out WebOS 1.4 to Palm Pre and Pixi handsets at any moment, according to several reports. The long list of expected improvements includes a fix to the browser and simpler options for making calls and interacting with contacts.
– Sprint has confirmed that Palm Pre and Pixi devices will receive an update
to WebOS 1.4 on Feb. 26, according to Engadget which later reported that the
Sprint blog post confirming the update had been removed.

Pakistan bombs militants, ground offensive imminent

Pakistani aircraft attacked Taliban militants in their South Waziristan stronghold near the Afghan border as the government said a ground offensive against the al Qaeda-linked fighters was imminent. The aircraft struck the militants late on Sunday, hours after commandos stormed an office
