Gems TV Holdings says wholly-owned subsidiary Gems TV (USA) has received notification of a temporary injunction filed by DirecTV before the US Courts and a related court order restraining Gems TV (USA) from transferring, disposing of, or parting with any assets which will leave Gems TV (USA) with less than US$25 million ($35 million) in money or assets until further order of the US Court. A Canadian judge has turned down a last-minute appeal by a German businessman for an injunction against his extradition on corruption charges.

Karlheinz Schreiber, 75, is wanted for tax evasion, bribery and fraud in Germany, where he had links to the former government of Helmut Kohl.

He had appealed at a court in Ontario against his imminent extradition.

Mr Schreiber, who has denied wrongdoing, is due to hand himself into a detention centre in Toronto. </p
