Cloud-based game streaming service Gaikai Inc., today announced an investment from Intel Capital. Gaikai offers the ability to play any game instantly inside the web browser with just one click, no big game download, no game install and no patching. This frictionless server-based, cloud-gaming technology is designed to dramatically increase both reach and audience participation while bringing down acquisition costs dramatically. Gaikai will launch in the summer of 2010, with servers powered by Intel Xeon Six-Core processors and Intel Solid State Drives, running through the key nodes of the Limelight network. NEC’s Express 5800/A1080a is built on the Intel Xeon 7500 Processor series, which utilizes Intels QuickPath Interconnect (QPI) technology. Dell Vostro 3000 Laptops, Precision M4500 Workstation Target Different Users

Dell introduced new PCs on March 9 that target the extremes of the workforce spectrum. The Dell Vostro 3000 series of laptops offers small business customers new performance options that are secure, affordable and present a professional appearance to complement their brand images. On the other end, Dell also plans to update its T7500, T4400 and T3500 tower workstations with Intel Xeon 5600 processors. In addition, Dell introduced the 15.6-inch Precision M4500 Mobile Workstation, which combines Intel Core i7 technology with Nvidia Quadro FX 1800M graphics. There is also an option for a 64GB SSD MiniCard. The Vostro line is available in the United States as of March 9, while Precision M4500 is arriving later.

Intel has today announced a new low voltage version of the Intel Xeon 5500 series processor – the Intel Xeon L5530 processor improves the frequency of 60W LV Xeon 5500 SKUs running at 2.40GHz providing performance per watt improvements in blades and high-density computing. Additionally a dual-socket workstation chip was announced: The Intel Xeon W5590 processor running at 3.33GHz; and two single-socket workstation chips, the W3580 running at 3.33GHz and the W3550 running at 3.06GHz, all improving performance in threaded and non-threaded workstation environments.
