Jeff Beck paid fitting
tribute to Les Paul last
summer, celebrating what would have been the pioneering guitarist’s 95th birthday
by playing his friend and mentor’s music, along with classic tunes from the era, in the same Times Square nightclub
that Paul played every Monday for 14 years before his death in August 2009.

Sponsored by Gibson Guitar and billed as Â“A Celebration of Les Paul,Â” Beck was joined by The Imelda May Band at the Iridium Jazz
Club in June 2010. The two-time Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee mesmerized the star-studded audience with
a tour de force performance of classics Paul recorded with Mary Ford, Â“How High The Moon,Â” Â“Vaya Con DiosÂ” and
Â“Mockin’ Bird Hill,Â” along with such rock and roll standards as Â“Twenty Flight RockÂ” and Â“Walking In The Sand.Â”

For those left off the guest list, Eagle Rock Entertainment and ATCO will offer this one of a kind performance to
purchase. Rock and Roll Party to Honor Les Paul will be available on DVD and CD February 22. A
PBS special of the event, Jeff Beck Honors Les Paul, is set to premiere on November 27 and air throughout
December. Check local listings for times.

Following these releases, Beck will take the Â“Rock And Roll PartyÂ” on the road for a short U.S. tour. Beck will once
again be backed by The Imelda May Band and its enchanting singer Imelda May, who joined Beck on stage
at the 2010 GrammyÂ® Awards for a spot-on rendition of Paul’s Â“How High The Moon.Â” Further details about tickets
will be announced in the coming weeks.

Legendary guitarist Jeff
Beck will perform the United Kingdom’s national anthem Â“God Save the QueenÂ” in London’s famous
Wembley Stadium for the opener of the NFL’s yearly overseas match-up. This year’s contest features the Denver
Broncos taking on the San Francisco 49ers. The game kicks off this Sunday, October 31, at 1PM EST.

Earlier this year, Beck electrified an intimate audience at the Grammy Museum in Los Angeles around the release of
his latest album Emotion & Commotion. Atco Records relives this special evening with the new release
Live and Exclusive From the Grammy Museum, which is available now. Audio and video is

Dark Star Orchestra Picks Jeff Mattson As New Guitarist

Dark Star Orchestra announced today that Jeff Mattson will be taking on the Jerry Garcia role and welcomes him as a full time member of the group. The band’s statement reads:

“After months of touring and playing with Jeff, we have decided to offer him the full time gig, which he has gratefully accepted. Jeff has blown us away with his energy, licks, and presence on stage. He is a great guy, an inspiring musician and so much fun to perform with, we cannot wait to get back out there and mix it up with him once again. We are having more fun than ever and are looking forward to seeing you all at the upcoming shows.”

A veteran of more than 30 years on the road, Mattson was a founding member of the Zen Tricksters and has performed in two bands of actual Grateful Dead members with Phil Lesh & Friends and the Donna Jean Godchaux Band. Relix Magazine recently praised his “eerily on-point Garcia interpretations” and Jambase.com noted: “Any doubts about new lead guitarist-singer Jeff Mattson were erased by a breathtaking ‘Eyes of the World’ where Mattson continually proved a real prize in his new role, bringing all his years in The Zen Tricksters to bear and then upping the ante a bit more.” Here’s Mattson in full flight with DSO The Klein in Bridgeport, CT.

Jeff Tweedy Talks New Mavis Staples LP

SOUL/GOSPEL LEGEND RETURNS WITH NEW LP SEPTEMBER 14

This past winter iconic singer Mavis
Staples joined Jeff
Tweedy in Wilco‘s
Chicago studio, The Loft, where Tweedy wrote two new songs for the soul/gospel legend and produced her
forthcoming album You Are Not Alone, out September 14 on Anti-Records.

“I have almost everything she’s ever recorded, and I dug back through very thoroughly when I was given this job to
do,” says Tweedy. “I thought that if I refreshed myself about where she’s been, it would help her figure out where
she wanted to go. I wanted to be sure that we were making a record that she really wanted to make.”

“You Are Not Alone,” the title track, was written by Tweedy. This is a very personal song for Mavis, as she shed some
tears singing it. Though the ballad can be sung for anyone (a lover, a sibling, a friend, a child), Mavis had her father,
Pops Staples in mind when she belted out the emotional lyrics. Mavis also pours her soul into the other Tweedy
composition, “Only the Lord Knows.” “That was our political song,” she says “You talk to this one, listen to that one,
pick up the paper, but you can’t get any answers. The White House, the church–I can’t get any straight answers to
the things I want to know. So for now, we’re on our own, and we have to go to the Lord. He’s the only one who
knows.”

This summer Mavis Staples will play the Toronto Jazz Fest on June 30, Lollapalooza on August 6, and the Wilco-
curated Solid Sound Festival at Mass MoCa on August 14, with additional US and European tour dates to be
announced soon.
