Serbian and Turkish FM Vuk Jeremić and Ahmet Davutoglu have expressed their willingness to further promote economic cooperation between the two countries. Speaking in Belgrade on Thursday, they both voiced their satisfaction with the current excellent state of bilateral relations.

“Candidate status in 2009 maybe”
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić says that he hopes that Belgrade will apply for EU candidate status this year. “Candidacy will be submitted at the optimal moment, in agreement with our European partners,†he told daily Danas.
Austrian FM pledges support to Serbia
Austrian FM Michael Spindelegger has pledged Vienna’s help to Serbia regarding liberalization of the visa regime and unfreezing of the Interim Trade Agreement. “I promised my Serbian colleague Vuk Jeremić that Austria would call for the European Commission’s recommendation to be applied as soon as possible,” he said.
FM praises Serbs in Romania
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić visited Romania yesterday where he held meetings with his Romanian and Hungarian counterparts. He also visited ethnic Serbs in the town of Timisoara, and said the manner in which they were organized could serve as an example to diaspora Serbs everywhere.
Jeremić to meet Hungarian, Romanian FMs
Foreign ministers of Serbia, Romania and Hungary Vuk Jeremić, Cristian Diaconescu and Peter Balazs, are set to meet in Timisoara. They will discuss topics of common interest for the three states, including the political situation in the region, Serbia’s European future and its regional cooperation within the DKMT Euroregion, Romania’s news agency Agerpres reported.
Jeremić attending Non-Aligned summit
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić will be attending the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in the Egyptian resort of Sharm-el-Sheikh over the next three days. Jeremić said that Serbia would be battling against intense pressure on Non-Aligned member-states to recognize Kosovo’s unilateral independence declaration.
Solana, Serbian officials meet in Belgrade
EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana began his visit to Belgrade today with a meeting with Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić. They expressed their confidence that the citizens of Serbia will soon receive good news from Brussels in regards to the visa regime liberalization.
Jeremić in Egypt ahead of NAM summit
Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić departed for Egypt this Monday, where he will attend a three-day summit of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM). During the summit, Jeremić will hold separate bilateral meetings with Foreign Ministers of Egypt, Lebanon, Kuwait, Morocco, Thailand, China, Qatar, Ecuador, Singapore, Chile, Oman and Kenya, the Foreign Ministry stated.
“Kosovo will be represented as state”
Kosovo PM Hashim Thaci says Kosovo will be represented “in all summits as a state”. The Kosovo Albanian leader is in Dubrovnik, Croatia, where he is attending a gathering, and where he commented on FM Vuk Jeremić’s absence.
