series of live performances. “Robyn Hitchcock & Joe Boyd – Live & Direct From 1967″ is a very special evening of
songs and stories, melding Hitchcock’s musical performances of songs produced by Boyd with Boyd’s own
reminiscences of his collaborations with such
iconic artists as Pink Floyd, Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, and Jimi Hendrix.
The tour will
feature readings from Boyd’s acclaimed 2006 memoir,
White Bicycles – Making Music In The 1960s. The run begins March 9 at The Birchmere in Alexandria,
Virginia, followed by visits to New York City, Philadelphia,
Detroit, Chicago, and North Adams, Massachusetts (full itinerary below).

Austin, TX-based garage soul ensemble Black Joe Lewis & The Honeybears.
Produced by Jim Eno of Spoon and featuring 11 new songs, Scandalous finds the young band returning with
their modern and original take on classic American musical styles. There are still plenty of tight horns and hard-
driving rhythms on tracks like “Livin’ In The Jungle,” “Booty City,” and “Black Snake,” but the new album is a decidedly
more diverse and contemporary offering than its predecessor. Gospel punk burner “You Been Lyin’” fits squarely
alongside the country blues of “Messin’” and the Stax-meets-Stones soul of “Since I Met You Baby.” The raw funk
creeper “She’s So Scandalous” stands out as an album highlight.

Facebook dipped a toe into the world of mergers and acquisitions when it acquired Parakey in July 2007, grabbing Firefox co-creators Blake Ross and Joe Hewitt. After a quiet 2008 in which it grabbed several top Google employees, including current COO Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook surprised folks when it picked up FriendFeed in August 2009. FriendFeed co-founder Bret Taylor went on to become Facebook’s CTO. Now with more than 500 million users worldwide, 2010 was a break-out year for Facebook in the M&A department. The social network acquired 10 small Web service providers. Eight of these were confirmed, one was pending and so far Facebook hasnt confirmed whether it has closed the 10th acquisition. But as Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, the company is quietly picking up these startups for the talent, not for the Web services they’ve built. When Facebook buys one of these little guys, the startups tend to shut down within a month or so. On the one hand, Facebook is snuffing out enterprising Web services. But in some cases, Facebook is hiring folks who will build bigger, better versions of those Web services within the context of the world’s supreme social network.
