Defense Minister Dragan Å utanovac has urged halting of criminal proceedings against persons who avoided conscription, the Defense Ministry said.
In a letter to the Justice Ministry and the High Judiciary Council, Å utanovac said the reason for his initiative was to give equal treatment to all persons eligible for conscription.

The High Judiciary Council of Serbia (VSS) said that it sent an explanatory decision to every judge who was not reelected recently. This was not a “circular letterâ€, as some judges who were not reelected claim, said the council.
