KFOR: No changes in north
KFOR has denied that the U.S. soldiers will take over the responsibility for the Kosovo north from the French.
KFOR Spokesman Hans-Dieter Wichter refuted allegations by the media from Priština that U.S. troops would be deployed to the north in March.
“KPS decision political, has no effect”
The Kosovo police (KPS) decision to “ban vehicles wiht new license plates containing the initials of Kosovo municipalities” is political. This is according to State Secretary for Kosovo and Metohija Oliver Ivanović, who also stated on Tuesday that the move will have no effect.
Journalist threatened in Kosovo
The South and East Europe Media Organization (SEEMO) strongly condemned the threat allegedly made by a local businessman against reporter Visar Duriqi. The reporter is a correspondent for the daily newspaper Infopress in Priština, the network of editors, media executives and leading journalists from South East Europe and an affiliate of the International Press Institute (IPI) said in a statement.
“Kosovo elections were manipulated”
European Parliament (EP) Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek says the recent elections in Kosovo were “manipulated”. “These elections cannot be expected to bring about stable institutions, and the future Kosovo parliament should take into account that they were elected through an irregular process,” Lunacek stated in an interview for the PriÅ¡tina-based daily Koha Ditore.
Belgrade against delays to Kosovo talks
The Belgrade-Priština talks are awaiting the forming of a new government in Priština, says Ministry for Kosovo official Oliver Ivanović. He explained that the Marty report did not have any direct influence on the postponement of negotiations.
Opposition parties argue over Constitution
The Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) says it doubts the motives behind theSerb Progressive (SNS) initiative to change the Constitution.
The SNS said it pushed for a reduce to the size of parliament, but DSS believes it also aims to change the preamble which states that Kosovo is an integral part of Serbia.
EP in statement on elections in Kosovo
A delegation of the European Parliament (EP) has issued a statement regarding the Kosovo elections held on December 12 and January 9. The voting was characterized by several serious flaws, which indicates a lack of political will with regard to staging proper elections that would be in line with international standards and good electoral practice, said the statement.
Albanians against organ trafficking report
Albanians are signing a petition against the report prepared by the Council of Europe rapporteur Dick Marty. The Swiss senator published the report late last year, naming Kosovo Albanian PM and former leader of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) as being responsible for kidnappings of Serbs and other civilians in the province.

CoE rapporteur Jean Charles Gardetto describes the situation in Kosovo as alarming, stressing especially killings of witnesses. His report comes on the heels of the one prepared by Council of Europe (CoE) investigator Dick Marty, which named Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci and others as responsible for kidnappings and human organ trafficking.
Belgrade ready for Kosovo talks, says minister
Minister for Kosovo Goran Bogdanović saysBelgrade is fully prepared to begin talks with Priština about the situation in Kosovo.
He also criticized the Kosovo Albanian authorities for “doing nothing to get the dialogue started,” adding that the talks have to begin as soon as Kosovo forms a new government.
Voting repeated in Kosovo municipalities
Voting was repeated in five municipalities in Kosovo and Metohija where irregularities were reported during the Dec. 12 elections. Beta news agency reports that according to information posted by the Kosovo Election Commission last night, the turnout in Srbica was 58.68 percent, 61.60 percent in Glogovac, 34.59 percent in Decani, 36.36 percent in Mališevo and 53.31 percent in Lipljan.
“Serbia shouldn’t support census in Kosovoâ€
Serbian Ministry for Kosovo State Secretary Oliver Ivanović stated on Sunday that the conducting of the population census in Kosovo should not be supported.
He added that the process should be opposed by all political means.
“EULEX can probe organ tradeâ€
Serbian Deputy War Crimes Prosecutor Bruno Vekarić has stated that EULEX has the capacities to investigate the organ trafficking allegations in Kosovo.
He noted, however, that it was questionable whether the EULEX had the courage to do so.

Newly-enthroned Bishop of Raška-Prizren Teodosije has called upon the Serbs to return to Kosovo and stressed that dialogue is the only way to solve problems.

Kosovo daily criticizes Serbian deputy PM
PriÅ¡tina-based daily Koha Ditore criticized Serbian Deputy PM Božidar Äelić over his statement about Serbia’s fight for Kosovo during his visit to Prizren.
Äelić visited Prizren on Christmas and spoke about Serbia’s “fight†for Kosovo and said that Belgrade would not renounce Kosovo.

International Civilian Representative in Kosovo Pieter Feith says that Kosovo needs a new, credible government which will be ready to face the challenges.
He said that the December elections were held in a generally constructive atmosphere but that there had been some irregularities.
Christmas marked in towns in Kosovo
The central celebration of Christmas Eve in Kosovo and Metohija was held in the St. Demetrios Church in Kosovska Mitrovica, northern Kosovo. Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Božidar Äelić, who attended the celebration, pointed out that 2011 will be the year of Serbia’s strong efforts aimed at European integration and fight for Kosovo.
