The police (MUP) have announced that they arrested six suspects in Serbia in connection to cases of “illegally gained automobiles”. Among them is one policeman from the central Serbian town of Kragujevac.

Laid-off Zastava workers to decide
The proposed redundancy program for the workers of Zastava Automobili has so far been accepted by about 200, out of the total of 1,600 workers.
This is according to the Director of the Kragujevac-based carmaker’s Staff and Legal Affairs Sector Margarita Gavrilović.
Dinkić still promises 5,000 jobs in Kragujevac
Minister of Economy Mlađan Dinkić on Wednesday reacted to the protest of Zastava Automobili workers in Kragujevac. He told B92 that the previously promised 5,000 jobs will be created in that central Serbian town, but that Fiat has decided to hire only 1,100 people right now.
Kragujevac: First Fiat test car in late 2011
Reconstruction of the Fiat factory in Kragujevac will be completed in the first half of 2011, Fiat automobili Srbija Director Giovanni de Filippis said Sunday.
He added that the first test car for the new Fiat model would be produced by the end of next year.

Today marks the anniversary of the Oct. 21, 1941 execution of several thousand civilians in the central Serbian town of Kragujevac.

Fiat to employ 2,000 in Serbia
Daily Blic writes that Fiat and its cooperators would be providing new jobs for 2,000 people next year in Kragujevac. Company managers from the human relations department met with officials of the Kragujevac branch of the National Employment Service and agreed that the preparations for hiring new workers would begin in September.
Fiat factory prepared for production
Old equipment is being taken out of the Fiat factories in Kragujevac as preparation begins for the production of new models in the former Zastava facilities. There is new roofing, flooring and other installations being put into the plant.
Heroin dealers arrested
Kragujevac police arrested a six-person criminal group in a local Roma community suspected of selling heroin. The police arrested Nebojša P. (30), his wife Marina T. (18), Zlatko S. (23) and Miloš M. (33).
On March 7, Bojan D. (24) and Darko V. (29) from Kragujevac were also arrested for heroin sales.
Closing of Fiat factories “doesn’t affect Serbiaâ€
The shutting down of Fiat’s factories in Italy “has nothing to do with the factory in the Serbian town of Kragujevacâ€. This is according to a statement from spokesman for the Italian car manufacturer Richard Gadezelli, whos spoke for the BBC on Tuesday.

A 50-year-old ÄŒaÄak native who died in Kragujevac this afternoon has become the fourth victim of swine flue. Serbia has 204 confirmed cases of the virus as of Thursday, it was announced earlier in the day.
Three more arrests in cocaine bust
Three more persons have been arrested in Kragujevac suspected of being involved in the smuggling of 2.5 tons of cocaine.
Special organized crime prosecutor Miljko Radisavljević said that the investigation against those suspected of being part of an international cocaine smuggling operation from South America to Europe was continuing, adding that three persons had been arrested in Kragujevac on Thursday.
Plans for Fiat factories ready
Fiat’s chief architect Diego Velini has given the city of Kragujevac the plans for building the cooperative factories in the Korman Polje industrial zone.
The company for producing parts for Fiat will be located on an area of 35 hectares, while another 20 hectares will be set aside for Iveco’s bus factory.
