United Envirotech completes Asia’s largest underground membrane-based wastewater recycling plant

Mainboard-listed United Envirotech, one of the leading membrane-based water and wastewater treatment solutions providers, says it has completed Asia’s largest underground municipal Membrane Bioreactor (MBR) plant in Guangzhou city.

The contract, worth a total value of RMB264 million ($51.9 million), has a design capacity of 100,000 cubic metres per day. With an underground depth of 20metres, the Jing Xi MBR plant takes up the smallest ground area among all wastewater treatment plants in China, 1/10 of a traditional water and wastewater treatment plant.

ComfortDelGro makes A$39m takeover bid for Perth’s largest taxi operator

ComfortDelGro Corporation has made a A$38.8 million ($46.8 million) takeover bid for Swan Taxis Limited, the largest provider of taxi services in the Perth metropolitan market with 1,667 taxis or a 91% share of the market.

Sembcorp opens largest Asia water-recycling plant

Sembcorp Industries opened Asia’s largest water-recycling plant in Singapore today.
 
The company will operate the facility under a 25-year contract with the city-state’s Public Utilities Board. The plant can handle as much as 50 million gallons of water a day, according to a statement handed to reporters in Singapore today.

Japan Land unveils Singapore’s largest data centre in Jurong

Japan Land, the provider of real estate-related services and solutions across the value chain, today announced the completion of its largest data centre in Singapore — Jurong Data Centre.

Jurong Data Centre has seven floors with a gross floor area of 34,440 square metres.

Offering 18,581 square metres (200,000 square feet) of data centre space across six floors, JDC allows for more than 30 dedicated data suites.

Hyflux unit bags $35.8m contract to design, build Singapore’s largest membrane bioreactor plant

Mainboard-listed Hyflux’s subsidiary, Hydrochem (S), has been awarded a $35.8 million contract by PUB, Singapore’s national water agency, to design, construct, test and commission a membrane bioreactor plant with a designed capacity of 68,000 cubic metres per day.

The plant at the Jurong Water Reclamation Plant will be Singapore’s largest. It will also be the largest membrane bioreactor plant to be built by Hyflux.

IBM, Brown Build Largest Supercomputer in R.I.

The IBM supercomputer at Brown University is 50 times more powerful, six times more energy efficient and can hold 70 times more memory than the system it’s replacing. Researchers and scientists across the region will have access to the supercomputer, which will have a peak performance of more than 14 teraflops. The supercomputer includes IBM’s iDataPlex and holds 1,440 microprocessors. The Marine Biological Laboratory, in Woods Hole, Mass., will be one of the first users.
