Trevor Hall: Album Out Now Tour w/ Franti & Matisyahu

TREVOR HALL CONTINUES HIS SUCCESSFUL CROSS-COUNTRY TOUR

FEATURING UPCOMING SHOWS WITH MICHAEL FRANTI & SPEARHEAD, COLBIE CAILLAT AND MATISYAHU

HALL’S SELF-TITLED VANGUARD RECORDS DEBUT AVAILABLE NOW

“I just wanna melt away in all its grace, drift away to that sacred place where there’s no more you and me no more they and we just unity.”

From “Unity,” written by Trevor Hall and Matisyahu

Trevor Hall

After a series of sold-out shows over the summer, Trevor Hall is hitting the road again – this time with friends and artists who have also lent their voices on Hall’s new self-titled Vanguard CD (check it out for free below). Hall is on tour now with Michael Franti & Spearhead. On the heels of that tour, Hall joins up with his friend Colbie Caillat for the month of October. Caillat is featured on Hall’s new recording of “The Lime Tree.” Hall will be performing special acoustic sets with percussionist Chris Steele on the run with Caillat, and then rejoins his band for the month of November with dear friend Matisyahu, who co-wrote and performs on Hall’s song “Unity.” Hall also performed and co-wrote four songs that appear on Matisyahu’s new album, Light.

Trevor Hall is a breath of fresh air in today’s music scene. His new album, produced by Marshall Altman (Matt Nathanson, Kate Voegele, Marc Broussard), embodies a soulfulness, depth and passion far beyond his 22 years. Hall combines a unique musical mix of reggae and acoustic rock that serve as a landscape for his thought-provoking, inspiring lyrics.

JJ Grey & Mofro: Tour

JJ Grey & Mofro Announce North American Tour

Dates With Derek Trucks And Susan Tedeschi Followed By Two-Month Co-Bill With Shooter Jennings

JJ Grey & Mofro

JJ Grey & Mofro, the Jacksonville, Florida-based swamp, blues, rock, funk, and soul band, have announced quite a massive North American fall tour. In addition to headlining theatre and festival dates, the band will share dates with blues guitarist/vocalist Susan Tedeschi and guitarist Derek Trucks. Then, in late September and running through November, JJ Grey & Mofro will embark on a co-headlining tour with country rock outlaw Shooter Jennings and special guest Earl Greyhound.

Grey’s most recent album, Orange Blossoms, has been hailed by USA Today as “intoxicating North Florida blues-rock, with hints of Memphis, Muscle Shoals and garage-band music.” In every song he writes and sings, Grey exudes rocking, funky, melodic front-porch realism. He comes from a long tradition of Southern musical storytellers. His multi-textured music is filled with dynamic rhythms and thought-provoking lyrics. From raw funk to deep soul, blues and rock, JJ and his band, both on CD and live, are simply devastating. Debuting in 2001 with Blackwater, following up in 2004 with Lochloosa, Grey steadily found more and more success. With his two recent releases, 2007′s Country Ghetto and 2008′s Orange Blossoms, along with non-stop touring, JJ Grey is taking his ever-growing fan base along for the ride of their lives.

Autolux Tour The States

Autolux Announce Nationwide Tour

Autolux

Los Angeles’ Autolux is about to embark on a national U.S. tour this fall, playing some of their first-ever headlining shows. These dates are Autolux’s first spin around the States since 2005, in support of their critically acclaimed debut album, Future Perfect. Band members Eugene Goreshter, Carla Azar and Greg Edwards plan to offer a preview of new material from their long-awaited, forthcoming album, Transit Transit.

The tour was born out of their confirmed slot at this September’s All Tomorrow’s Parties in New York, curated by The Flaming Lips. After announcing the festival date, and receiving numerous emails from fans around the country in hopes the band would book a tour soon, the three-piece felt this would be an ideal time to fill in the gaps – putting together a coast-to-coast, month-long run, which begins August 28 at the Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco.

Autolux have kept themselves busy doing other various projects throughout the making of Transit Transit. These include collaborating with UNKLE on a song for the album War Stories, composing music for an exhibit at the Museum of Natural History in Los Angeles called “Sonic Scenery,” and traveling to Russia to open for PJ Harvey. In February 2008, Carla went into the studio with PJ Harvey and John Parish to play drums on PJ Harvey’s latest album, A Woman A Man Walked By. Most recently, Autolux collaborated with Australian visual artist Kill Pixie for an installation room for his solo exhibition at the Merry Karnowsky Gallery, hosted by Tim Roth.

Ed Levine: Street Breakfeast You Can’t Live Without

Who makes made-from-scratch pancakes at a food cart?

Kenneth C. Davis: An American History Lesson for Pat Buchanan

Yes, no black men signed the Declaration. They were consigned to the plantations of many of the men who did the signing, putting food on their tables and money in their purses
