Assif Shameen: Glencore listing will boost Noble and Olam

JUST WHEN YOU thought the petty tit for tat between the Singapore and Hong Kong bourses was over, there is more. Less than a week after Singapore Exchange snatched the listing of Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-shing’s ports assets of Hutchison Whampoa as a business trust, the Hong Kong Exchange leaked out word that Switzerland- based global commodities giant Glencore International AG was seeking a listing there by June. The IPO of the metals-to-agricultural commodities group is likely to raise up to US$2.5 billion ($3.2 billion) in Hong Kong as part of a US$10 billion IPO and a dual listing in London.

China Gaoxian off 17.1%; KRX listing plays in focus

China Gaoxian (I4U.SG) is down 17.1% at $0.365 with 58 million shares traded, as its Korean depository receipts (950070.SE) tumble on their debut on the Korean stock exchange; in Seoul, the stock is down 4.3% at KRW6,030.

China Gaoxian plunges as Korea listing falls

Shares of Singapore-listed fabric maker China Gaoxian (CGXF.SI) dropped as much as 14.8% on Tuesday to over a three-week low after its Korean depository receipts (KDR) fell on their first trading day.

At 10:11 a.m., shares of China Gaoxian were 13.6% down at $0.38 with over 38 million shares changing hands.

Malaysia Smelting Corp. may fall; prices Singapore listing at discount

Malaysia Smelting Corp. (5916.KU) may fall toward MYR4.50 ($1.89), a one-week low, then MYR4.30, the one-month low, compared with Wednesday’s close of MYR4.60 (down 2.1%) when it resumes trading Monday, a local dealer says, after the company says it priced its secondary listing on the Singapore Exchange’s main board at $1.75/Share, equivalent to MYR4.17, which will raise $43.75 million.

SGX starts Catalist listing of early stage exploration firms

Singapore Exchange said it will welcome the listing of early stage mineral, oil and gas companies on its Catalist board. The companies won’t need to have revenue or earnings, but must have an established presence of at least “indicated resources” of minerals or “contingent resources” of oil and gas.

Hutchison unit eyes $7.7b Singapore listing, record for Southeast Asia

Hutchison Whampoa (0013.HK) plans to spin off its holdings in two ports assets, a move expected to raise US$6 billion ($7.7 billion) in what could be Southeast Asia’s largest ever stock offering.

The listing by Hutchison, a ports-to-telecom conglomerate owned by Hong Kong tycoon Li Ka-shing, will take place on the Singapore Stock Exchange, allowing the company to use the proceeds for investments in its ports and infrastructure business.

Courage Marine +13.2%; latest dual listing play

Singapore’s Courage Marine (E91.SG) is +13.2% at $0.215, its highest level since May 2010, after the dry-bulk shipper says it intends to seek a dual primary listing on the HK stock exchange’s main board.

Volume spikes to 10.3 million shares, as investors seek to ride the near-guaranteed gains in the run up to further announcements, which are mostly driven by hopes of increased valuations and trading volumes.

Hutchison port unit plans $7.7b Singapore listing: Update

Hutchison Whampoa (0013.HK) plans to spin off a port unit and raise US$6 billion ($7.7 billion) via a listing in Singapore, the biggest ever in the city-state, to expand its port facilities and infrastructure, IFR and the firm said on
Tuesday.

Hutchison, owned by tycoon Li Ka-shing, is proposing to spin off Hutchison Port Holdings Trust in a separate listing in Singapore, it said in a filing to the Hong Kong stock exchange.

Courage Marine seeks dual listing in HK stock exchange

Courage Marine says it is seeking a dual primary listing of its ordinary shares on the Main Board of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

The company says this will enable it to have ready access to different equity markets and pools of investors and improve the liquidity of its shares.

Courage Marine also believes the listing will also enhance its profile in Hong Kong and in China which are becoming increasingly significant markets and facilitate business opportunities, customer relationship and business development.

CapitaLand open to China listing: report

Southeast Asia’s largest property developer CapitaLand (CATL.SI) is open to the idea of a listing in China, where the firm’s shopping mall unit plans on almost doubling its number of properties, Singapore’s Business Times newspaper reported on Wednesday.

CapitaMalls Asia (CMAL.SI) (CMA), a unit of CapitaLand, hopes to have around 100 malls from 53 now in China within the next three to five years.

China Animal Healthcare up on HK listing

Singapore-listed shares of China Animal Healthcare <CAHC.SI>, which makes drugs for livestock, rose as much as 3.8% on Tuesday as the company made its debut on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange.

At 11:09 a.m., China Animal shares were flat at $0.395 on a volume of 20 million shares after rising to an intraday high of $0.41.

China Fishery HK listing won’t aid valuation: DMG

China Fishery’s (B0Z.SG) proposed Hong Kong dual listing is not expected to boost its valuation much, although proceeds raised from the exercise could lead to earnings-accretive acquisitions, says DMG, which has a Neutral call with a $2.00 target.

"We see minimal valuation impact from a dual listing in HKEX as both of China Fishery’s parent companies, Pacific Andes Resources Development (P11.SG) and Pacific Andes International Holdings (1174.HK), are trading at similar FY10 P/E multiples of 7x."

China Fishery seeks global offering of new shares and dual primary listing on the Hong Kong …

Mainboard-listed industrial fishing company China Fishery Group (SGX: B0Z.SI) says it intends to undertake a global offering of new ordinary shares and seek a dual primary listing of all the ordinary shares of China Fishery on the Mainboard of the Stock Exchange of Hong Kong.

China Fishery plans to allot and issue up to 175 million new ordinary shares with an over-allotment option of up to 25 million new shares.

United Engineers +2.7%; Unit listing in focus

United Engineers (U04.SG) +2.7% at $2.67 on potential one-off gain from proposed listing of engineering & construction unit in Singapore.

"This allows them to isolate their property business, which accounts for about 80% of their overall revenue, and concentrate solely on real estate, which they have already been doing for the last few years," says an analyst at foreign brokerage, "listing also allows the engineering and construction business to get its own funding from either the debt or equity markets."

UE has obtained letter of eligibility from SGX to list, intends to retain about 60% of unit post-listing, has engaged OCBC as issue manager.

On pro forma basis, UE’s NTA/share would rise to $3.46 post-listing from $3.33. Immediate resistance at 52-week high of $2.74.

China Environment seeks dual listing on HK stock exchange

China Environment is seeking a dual primary listing on the Mainboard of Stock Exchange of Hong Kong (SEHK).

The company says a dual listing will widen its investor base and it “may benefit from its exposure to a bigger range of private and institutional investors, and is expected to increase share trading liquidity”.

OSK Capital Hong Kong has been appointed as its sponsor listing.

Singapore Exchange, Nasdaq in pact for dual listing: Update

Singapore Exchange (S68.SG) and Nasdaq OMX Group Inc. (NDAQ) Friday extended their collaboration to allow dual listing for initial public offerings, helping companies tap into Asia’s rapid economic growth and robust appetite for equity issues.

The partnership comes as an increasing number of global companies are seeking to raise their brand profile by listing in Asia, which is tipped to grow 8% in 2010 by the International Monetary Fund. At the same time, companies from China and India among other Asian countries are seeking to widen their investor base as they target global customers.

UMS up on dual listing plans in Korea

Shares of Singapore chip equipment maker UMS Holdings <UMSH.SI> rose as much as 10.6% in early trade on Friday as investors were bullish about its plans to list in South Korea.

At 0332 GMT, UMS shares were up 7.5% at $0.505 on a volume of 34.2 million shares.
