COMPILATION GATHERS SWEET MEAT FROM MASSIVE SOLO CATALOG

Omar Rodriguez Lopez (The Mars Volta, At The Drive-In) has announced the spring 2011 release of a quadruple LP / double CD collection culled from his multiple solo and collaborative albums entitled Telesterion. In celebration of this, Rodriguez Lopez’s eponymous band will perform at this year’s Coachella Festival and SXSW Music Festival (Sargent House/Rodriguez Lopez Productions showcase). Headlining tour dates are also in the works for late spring, to be announced soon.
The extensive 37-song (38 on the vinyl version) Telesterion compilation of the guitarist’s work showcases the variety and breadth of explorative artistry spread across his 25 (and counting) solo albums harvested for this release. Telesterion includes a 20-page booklet of artwork and text outlining the scope of his work, with liner notes by longtime friend and Rodriguez Lopez Productions art director Sonny Kay. See Sonny’s recollection of their first meeting through to their current collaborations here.

ARE you longing to see Take That, a British boy band approaching middle age? More than 1.3m people are. So heavy is demand for the tour, which begins in Sunderland in May, that Britain’s phone network at one point creaked under three to four times the normal weight of calls. But even sold-out concerts are never really so. Plenty of Take That tickets are for sale online—at up to five times the original prices.
For the hottest acts, the concert business is good. Lady Gaga and Justin Bieber have little problem selling tickets. Yet trouble lurks below the stratosphere. Pollstar, a research firm, estimates that the 50 biggest worldwide tours grossed $2.93 billion last year—12% less than in 2009. StubHub, a large website on which tickets are traded, says the average concert-ticket price dropped by 18% between 2008 and 2010. …

The year 2010 saw Soundgarden, Chris Cornell, Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd and Matt
Cameron, reuniting after a 13-year absence to a thunderous roar. As promised, the band have now
announced that they’ll be releasing their first-ever collection of live tracks on March 22, 2011 through UMe.
Titled Live on I5, a reference to the Interstate 5 which runs up and down the West Coast, the
new collection compiles live tracks from a 1996 run by the band and captures the band at the height of their
recording and touring career. This carefully selected compilation includes fan favorites like “Spoonman”, “Rusty
Cage”, “Burden In My Hand,” and “Black Hole Sun” (performed by Chris Cornell solo), as well what insiders are calling
the definitive live performance of “Jesus Christ Pose.” As a bonus, the disc includes two brilliantly inspired covers:
The Beatles’ “Helter Skelter” and The Stooges’ anarchic proto-punk classic, “Search & Destroy.”

It’s no secret bands must look for new ways to connect with fans in the digital era of music. Tea Leaf Green has always made it a
point to offer fans a wide variety of merchandise, recordings, and even radio TLG. Next up on their list—a live
stream performance. On January 12, the band will join up with BAMM.tv (San Francisco) to stream a live studio performance from the band’s
hometown.
A small group of lucky fans in the Bay Area will be invited to the event for BBQ, beverages, and a unique Tea Leaf
Green experience. The band and BAMM.tv are also working together to give the audio from two songs to all those
viewers who tune in to the live performance.
“We are incredibly excited to be teaming up with Tea Leaf Green,” Phil Lang, BAMM.tv’s Music Operations
Director, says. “We’ve been working our tails off for the better part of the year to create a live stream production
