Eight Things We Expect to See from Apple in 2011
The New Year will bring a lot of surprises, but it doesnt take a quick shake of the box to figure out some of what Apple has on tap for 2011. Between the shakeup of application distribution contained in the Mac App Store, a new "Lion" release of Mac OS X, and new versions of the iPad and iPhone expected before midyear, theres a lot more going on with Apples product plans than the routine enhancements to processors and graphics. The big question for some users will be: will Mac OS X Lion be the last release of the operating system for server-side computing, or will Apple exit that market entirely, to focus more closely on its burgeoning consumer business? In any event, the increasing use of consumer devices in IT environments will mean good news (and healthy balance sheets) for Apple in the coming year. – …

How to rip DVD to iPhone & iPod Touch format Posted By : JasmineGuo
No doubt you can purchase movies from the iTunes Store ready for iPhone/iPod Touch consumption, but if you already own the DVD, you don’t want to waste your money on the same movie a second time. Instead, you can rip the DVD to a video file on your computer, move it into iTunes Library, and then sync it to your iPhone/iPod Touch. The program I’d like to recommend to do this is called HandBrake, and it’s available for free on both Windows and Mac.
The following tutorial will show you how to rip DVD to iPhone/iPod Touch format using HandBrake. You can follow this guide to convert DVD to iPod Touch/iPhone whether you are using Windows OS or Mac OS X.
Mac Malware Attacks Prompt Security Vendors to Rush Out Antivirus Tools
Security vendors are saying that attacks on the Mac are now significant enough that Apple users should invest in antivirus software for what was once the "invulnerable" platform. With Koobface variant Boonana fresh in people’s minds, the concept of a virus attacking Macs seems less laughable than it did even two years ago. "Mac users must remember that less targeted is not the same as invulnerable," said Richard Wang, manager of SophosLabs. The threat is still not that prevalent, with only "one to two" attacks on Macs each week, compared with the "tens of thousands" per day against Windows PCs. Mac OS X has only 10.6 percent market share in the United States, according to IDC and Gartner, but the day hackers will find the platform worth targeting is not far off, vendors said. Mac antivirus software is not new, but it used to have a bad reputation for being resource-hungry and inconvenient. That’s soon to change as vendors release new Mac antivirus tools that are quite unobtrusive. Here are some of them. – …

It’s quite clear Apple will never deviate from its policy of not licensing the Mac OS to other PC makers.
