Neon Indian: Summer Tour BRAHMS Remix

NEON INDIAN ANNOUNCES SUMMER TOUR / GETS REMIXED BY BRAHMS

Neon Indian

Neon Indian is Alan
Palomo
, the 21-year-old synth-wizard who first created waves as VEGA. After writing a batch of off-the-cuff recordings that weren’t quite right as VEGA songs, Palomo released them as Neon Indian and what started
as a careless outlet for ideas too offbeat to fit the VEGA mold has since gone on to define a genre. His critically
acclaimed debut album Psychic Chasms, which was released in October 2009, has been featured in
SPIN, Rolling Stone, Wall Street Journal and FADER among others. In February 2010 he
made his late night TV debut with a performance on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. “Sleep Paralysist,” the
recent single for Green Label Sound was written by Neon Indian lead-man Alan Palomo; the track was
recorded and produced in collaboration with Chris Taylor of Grizzly Bear in Brooklyn at Taylor’s
elusive musical dungeon, Terrible Studios. Here, Neon Indian is remixed by new outfit BRAHMS, which features Eric
Lodwick
, Drew Robinson, and Cale Parks.

Caribou Announces World Tour Release Swim 4/20

CARIBOU ANNOUNCES WORLD TOUR, MERGE RECORDS TO RELEASE SWIM APRIL
20

Caribou

Caribou is pleased is to
announce a world tour beginning in Manchester, England on April 19th. The North American leg of the tour will
begin on May 3rd in Toronto. Merge Records will release Swim, Dan Snaith’s new album, on April
20.

If there is a link to previous album, Andorra, it would be in the ravishing explosions of sound pulsing through album closer “Niobe.” A continuum of sorts leads us to 2010, but that finale gives mere hints as to the future Caribou. From
the opening effervescent gambol of “Odessa” to the glorious odyssey of “Jamelia,” it is crystal clear that Caribou has made a massive leap forwards, upwards and sideways. Swim is full of brightly textured, rapturous gems that gleam with astonishing production – and then wrenches at your heart with soulful, thoughtful reveries on the passing of time, family history and the breakdown of relationships.

This year will also see a dramatic difference in the Caribou live performance. Now that technology has finally caught up to Dan’s ambitions for the band’s show, while it will still be four musicians onstage, the dynamic interplay between visuals, electronics and the live sound is totally pliable.

The band can play the mix onstage like a dub mixer would – but even more so than a Lee Perry because almost everything can be manipulated – not just the things that are controlled on a recording studio mixing desk. They can get that washing-around feeling and the unpredictability of sounds undergoing changes all the time. They say it
takes a few years for the new century to kick in, here we go.

The Disco Biscuits Broadcasting Planet Anthem CD Release Show 3/16 in Philly For Free via Livestream

Planet Anthem Out Today Tuesday, 3/16, Watch a clip from their new video for “On Time”

The Disco Biscuits

The Disco Biscuits‘ new album Planet Anthem was just released on Tuesday, 3/16. To celebrate the release, the DB’s are partnering with Livestream to broadcast the entire Planet Anthem CD Release Party at the TLA in their home town of Philadelphia for FREE. The broadcast will air live March 16 starting at 8 p.m. and will be available at livestream.com/discobiscuits. With Livestream as the exclusive streaming provider, the player widget for the webcast can be embedded anywhere. Integration with Facebook and Twitter allows viewers to engage in an online conversation with others fans and the band.

The Disco Biscuits took the pre-order game to a whole new level, offering fans the opportunity to bundle the record with an actual experience with the band. It worked, too, as The Disco Biscuits sold over 3,000 pre-order packages. There were over 32 combinations available, including going to an Eagles game with the band, taking shots of Jameson with band, going to dinner, taking guitar/bass/keyboard/drum lessons and
playing tennis against the band. Others included your standard CD/poster/ticket bundle, a chance to pick the bands playlist and even sing on the next record. Although the massive pre-order campaign is now over, fans can still grab an autographed copy of the album from Newbury Comics HERE.

Check back later this week for an in-depth feature/interview with Marc Brownstein on the new album.

Personalised registration plates for sale

I guess it’s a bit of harmless fun and if it helps to close the yawning chasm of public sector debt in this country by even a millimetre, maybe it’s worth it. The DVLA – the UK’s driver/vehicle licensing authority – is busy hawking what it thinks are valuable registration plates. The DVLA reckons that patriotic Scots will want to have the registration K11 LTS, ‘the perfect private plate for any Scot proud of their distinguished heritage’, it says.

The ‘coveted personalised registration’ is among 1,500 being auctioned during the three-day event commencing on Wednesday, March 24. The auction takes place at Old Trafford – home of Manchester United football club.

“Registrations like this are ideal for those who take great pride in their nation’s heritage,” said Damian Lawson, DVLA Personalised Registrations’ Marketing Manager. “I’m sure any Scottish person, proud of their country’s traditions and customs, would love to have this number plate on their car.” Yeah, right. Who’s got RAB C1? Please, at least put some humour into it…
