Cisco, Tandberg Give Glimpse of Integrated Road Map

Officials with both Cisco Systems and Tandberg say they expect to get the regulatory go-ahead in the first half of the year to complete the $3.4 billion acquisition of Tandberg. After the deal closes, Cisco will create a TelePresence Technology Group comprising several business units and will push for an integrated platform made up of both Cisco and Tandberg messaging and collaboration products. There also will be a focus on greater interoperability with Tandberg products and those of third parties.

Cisco, NetApp, VMware Map Out Unified Data Center Architecture

Cisco and VMware have now teamed up with EMC’s sworn enemy, NetApp, to provide similar functionality: new and improved hardware and software for next-generation, unified-protocol data centers that make full use of cloud computing as needed.

Avaya Offers Plan for Nortel Integration Road Map

Avaya is unveiling its plans for integrating products acquired from Nortels enterprise business. Avayas plan is aimed at eliminating overlap while protecting Nortel customers, who not only will want to avoid any rip-and-replace scenarios but also will be courted by Avaya competitors. Avaya also said it is keeping Nortels data products, including switches and routers.

Singapore’s Straits Times Index rose 0.2% to 2,860.95 at the 12:30 p.m. trading break. More than three stocks rose for each that fell on the 30-member gauge. Shares on the measure trade at 17 times estimated earnings, compared with about 10 times at the start of the year, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. For example, in the application sector, it spotlights market leaders such as Salesforce.com, Google Apps, Amazon.com and IBM and lays out the features offered by each.

AMD Opens Up Road Map for PCs, Servers

At AMD’s annual analyst day event, officials gave analysts and reporters a view of the chip maker’s road map going into 2011, when AMD will introduce its first Fusion CPU/GPU processors, called APUs.
