The Strokes: New Album in March

ANGLES, FIRST ALBUM IN FIVE YEARS, ARRIVES MARCH 22


The Strokes

The Strokes announce the
release date for their highly anticipated fourth album, Angles, on March 22 via RCA records in the
US, and March 21 via Rough Trade Records in the UK. A new single titled “Under Cover of Darkness,” will be heard
on radio starting in February. The complete track-listing for the album can be found below. More details on Angles
will be released in the coming weeks, as will details for a Spring US tour.

Angles is the band’s first new release since 2006′s First Impressions of Earth and marks the
ambition of that album with the immediacy of the band’s earlier albums Is This It (2001) and Room On
Fire
(2003).

The 2011 Envision Music Festival is set for
March 3-March 6 in Dominical on the South Pacific coast of Costa Rica. Featuring music, workshops, performance
art, and other activities, the three-day festival aims to create a convergence of different
levels of consciousness to confront a situation that is becoming critical, like the environmental conservation and the
prosperity of diverse communities and all the world inhabitants.

The festival will highlight this area to the world as a leader in eco-local consciousness. By using local vendors and
suppliers for everything from building materials to organic produce and artwork, the community involvement will
enrich each guest’s individual experiences. Promoting local businesses helps to maintain solid relationships and
builds ongoing prosperity for the community.

The Lisa Wendel Memorial Foundation will donate an amount equal to 10% of ticket sales to charitable causes.
Envision Tribe has decided that 5% will go to support Community Carbon Trees – Costa Rica and the other 5% will be
spent towards improving local schools.

The LWMF was formed in memory of Lisa Wendel who died when she was six and half years old of Leukemia. The
Foundation was founded in 1984. The purpose to assist individuals and organizations with education, charity,
science and other charitable purposes.

festivals and a taping of Austin City Limits with Elvis Costello, 2010 was a year of making noise and news for the
Band of Heathens. Now,
the group is set to release a new album.

Top Hat Crown & the Clapmaster’s Son, is due out March 29, 2011. Their third studio album and
the fifth release overall, the band will also

How do you throw a 100th birthday bash for the most influential bluesman that ever lived? If you’re Big Head Todd and The Monsters, you
gather some of the greatest living blues musicians and record 100 Years of Robert Johnson
(March 1, 2011 – Ryko/Big Records), a stirring new tribute album featuring 10 potent interpretations of some of the
most vital and durable music of the past century.

Big Head Blues Club, as the ad hoc ensemble is calling itself, features, in addition to the Colorado-based
quartet—guitarist and vocalist Todd Park Mohr, bassist Rob Squires, drummer Brian
Nevin
and keyboardist Jeremy Lawton—special guests, blues legends B.B. King, Hubert Sumlin, David “Honeyboy” Edwards and Charlie Musselwhite, as well as keepers
of the blues flame Ruthie Foster, Cedric Burnside, and Lightnin’
Malcolm.

Recorded at the legendary Ardent Studios in Memphis, and produced by Grammy award winning blues producer
Chris Goldsmith (Blind Boys of Alabama), 100 Years of Robert Johnson will be released in early
2011, and supported by a national tour (“Blues at the Crossroads: The Robert Johnson Centennial Concerts”)

Kaki King will return to her
acoustic roots this winter for a national tour that will make stops at renowned venues such as the Moma in New
York City, Yoshi’s in San Francisco and World Cafe Live in Philadelphia. In her 10-year career, King has released five
full lengths and two EPs. She has scored for television and film, most notably alongside Vedder and Michael Brook as
composers for Sean Penn’s Into the Wild for which she received a Best Original Score Golden Globe nomination.

King’s latest record, Junior, was released in April 2010 and featured King performing in a power rock-trio
configuration. This tour will feature only the guitarist as she performs in an acoustic format.

Zero: 2 Shows in SF in March Benefit For Judge Murphy

ANNIVERSARY OF CLASSIC LIVE ALBUM


Zero will perform on Friday, March 4, and Saturday, March 5 at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco. These shows mark the 20th anniversary of Chance In A Million, the live album recorded at the GAMH that helped cement Steve Kimock’s place in the guitar pantheon and featured Nicky Hopkins (Rolling Stones), Vince Welnick (Grateful Dead), John Kahn (The Jerry Garcia Band) and many others. The album also featured new Robert Hunter songs delivered in fine voice by Judge Murphy. The band reunites to commemorate the music and to benefit Judge, who is battling liver cancer, awaiting a transplant.

The lineup for Zero will feature Steve Kimock, Greg Anton, Judge Murphy, Chip Roland, Liam Hanrahan, and special guests. Tickets on sale Sunday, January 23 through www.gamh.com.

Singapore Exchange implements all-day trading from March 1

Singapore Exchange (SGXL.SI), Asia’s second-largest listed bourse operator, will introduce continuous all-day trading from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. from March 1, it said on Tuesday.
 
“SGX trading hours will therefore overlap more with those of other Asian exchanges, allowing investors who trade pan-Asian securities to respond to regional market movements and news flow,” SGX said in a statement.

Trading in the Singapore bourse currently has a lunch break from 12:30pm to 2pm.
