Coachella 2011: Arcade Fire, Kings Of Leon, Kanye West

The 12th Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival is set for Friday, April 15, Saturday, April 16 and Sunday,
April 17 at the beautiful Empire Polo Club in Indio, CA and the 2011 line-up includes headlining performances from
Arcade Fire, Kanye West and Kings of Leon. While music serves as the centerpiece for
Coachella, this year’s festival will feature an expanded commitment to art, culture and community via a unique
partnership with The Creators Project–a global initiative that supports leading and emerging artists.

Marina Bay Sands to launch ArtScience museum

Marina Bay Sands will open the world’s first ArtScience museum in February, the latest attraction at its US$5.5 billion ($7.1 billion) gambling complex built by US casino giant Las Vegas Sands (LVS.N).

With a form reminiscent of a lotus flower designed by renowned architect Moshe Safdie, the science museum is due to open on Feb 17 at 1:18 p.m., “as advised by our feng shui master,” a Marina Bay Sands spokeswoman said.

Keppel Land to book larger profit from Marina Bay divestment

Keppel Land (KLAN.SI) expects to realise a larger profit of about $394 million from the sale of property in Singapore’s Marina Bay after the tax authority said it would treat the divestment as capital gain. Keppel Land, a Singapore developer, last month said it expected to book a net gain of $321 million from the divestment of its one-third stake in Marina Bay Financial Centre Towers 1 & 2 to K-REIT (KASA.SI), a property trust it controls.

Marina Bay Sands 3Q suggests competition intensifies – UOB KH

UOB KayHian says Marina Bay Sands’ estimated 3Q10 casino EBITDA of about $278 million (after Las Vegas Sands 3Q results) “fell short of rising market chatter and expectation that MBS would pip Resorts World Sentosa this quarter.”

Notes, rolling chip volume at MBS of about $13.5 billion surpasses house estimates for Genting Singapore (G13.SG) of $11 billion, while rise in MBS’ VIP commission rates confirm view VIP segment competition intensified.

Suntec REIT to acquire one-third interest in Marina Bay Financial Centre Towers 1 and 2, the …

ARA Trust Management (Suntec), as manager of Suntec Real Estate Investment Trust (Suntec REIT), says HSBC Institutional Trust Services (Singapore), as trustee of Suntec REIT, has entered into a conditional share purchase agreement with Choicewide Group, Cavell Limited and Hutchison Whampoa Properties to acquire a one-third interest in Marina Bay Financial Centre Towers 1 and 2, the Marina Bay Link Mall and 695 car park lots  through the acquisition of one-third of the issued share capital of BFC Development.

Keppel Land sells Marina Bay property stake to K-REIT: Update

Keppel Land, the Singapore- based developer controlled by Keppel Corp., agreed to sell its stake in the first phase of Marina Bay Financial Center to K- REIT Asia for $1.43 billion, as part of a swap agreement.

Keppel Land will book a net gain of about $321 million from the sale of its one-third stake in the two office towers, it said in a statement today. Keppel Land will buy two properties, Keppel Towers and GE Tower, from K-REIT for $573 million for redevelopment into about 620 premium residences.

Keppel Land sells part of Marina Bay properties to trust

Singapore’s third largest property developer Keppel Land (KLAN.SI) said it divested a one-third interest in the city-state’s Marina Bay Financial Centre Towers and Marina Bay Link Mall to its real estate trust.

The deal value including rentals is about $1.427 billion , Keppel Land said in a statement, adding the sale will yield a net gain of $321 million.

 
As part of the asset swap, Keppel Land also agreed to buy two properties, Keppel Towers and GE Tower, for $573 million from its property trust, K-REIT (KASA.SI).

Marina Bay Sands and SATS launch first city check-in and baggage acceptance service

Marina Bay Sands and SATS have jointly introduced a new city check-in and baggage acceptance service – the first of its kind in Singapore – for hotel guests and visitors heading to Changi Airport.

With the launch of the Baggage Express service, Marina Bay Sands’ guests and customers departing on Singapore Airlines (SIA) and SilkAir flights can enjoy the convenience of checking-in at least three hours before their flights depart. They can receive their boarding passes and baggage claim tags at Marina Bay Sands. Checked-in guests can also proceed directly to clear immigration at Singapore Changi Airport and be at the boarding gate before it closes.

No impetus for Marina Bay Sands IPO right now: Adelson

Las Vegas Sands Corp. (LVS) Chairman Sheldon Adelson said he sees no impetus right now to spin off the group’s US$5.5 billion Singapore integrated resort in an initial public offering.

“I’ve been asked that question many times and right now I don’t see the impetus to convert,” Adelson said at a conference in Hong Kong Tuesday.

Tee International unit takes over running of Marina Bay Sands workers’ dorm

Tee International says wholly-owned subsidiary, PBT Engineering, has taken over the Marina Bay Sands workers’ dormitory and operating it for a period of nine months effective from Sept 1 under the preview of Building & Construction Authority.

This facility, which comprises two blocks of workers dormitory and a communal block, was previously owned by Marina Bay Sands and operated by PBT on behalf of MBS since  Dec 1, 2008 as part of the ‘Design, Build & Operate’ Workers’ Dormitory contract with MBS.

The dormitory with the capacity for up to 2,280 workers is complete with ample amenities to meet the needs of all the workers, including mini mart and various recreational facilities such as hard courts, gymnasium, games room and TV corners. Laundry, food catering and shuttle services are also provided.

Marina Bay Sands had 500,000 casino visitors in June, CEO says

Marina Bay Sands has had close to 500,000 casino visitors this month, Thomas Arasi, the chief executive officer of the resort, said at a press conference in Singapore today. The casino resort didn’t open too early, said Michael Leven, the chief operating officer of parent company Las Vegas Sands Corp.

Marina Bay Sands retail area to see up to 150,000 visitors a day

Marina Bay Sands will attract 125,000 to 150,000 visitors to its retail area a day, Las Vegas Sands Corp. Chairman Sheldon Adelson said at a press conference in Singapore today. Adelson also said the Lion King show will start in the first quarter of 2011.

Marina Bay Sands sued for law conference mishaps, threats

Las Vegas Sands Corp.’s Singapore casino resort was sued by the organisers of the first conference it hosted for misrepresenting a “complete disaster” as a world-class venue and for imposing duress, fear and force.

IPBA 2010 Pte is asking the Singapore High Court to assess damages for misrepresentation, breach of agreement and Marina Bay Sands Pte’s conduct, according to a lawsuit filed yesterday.
