Swiss MPs back Marty, seek probe

The allegations presented the Marty report should be looked into by an international commission, concluded the Swiss National Council Foreign Affairs Committee. Marty, EULEX discuss witness protection

Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty is negotiating witness protection guarantees with EULEX, it has been confirmed.

EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton’s Spokeswoman Maja Kocijančić has confirmed that the negotiations on witness protection are underway, daily Blic writes.

“Kosovo organ probe must take place”

The Financial Times writes today that the EU and U.S. are expected to allow the investigation into organ trade in Kosovo after the Marty report was adopted.

Ever since they recognized Kosovo’s independence in 2008, the U.S. and its European Union allies have been under no illusions about the malign influence of high-level corruption and organized crime “in the former Serbian province”, according to an opinion piece published in the London daily.

Albanian PM furious at CoE rapporteur

Albanian Prime Minister Sali Berisha has hurled more serious accusations at Council of Europe (CoE) Rapporteur Dick Marty.

Following the adoption of the report on the human organ trafficking in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) he called Marty a racist and said that the anti-Albanian propaganda had started in Serbia under Slobodan Milošević.

Marty: EULEX powerless, ad hoc structure needed

CoE Rapporteur Dick Marty said that the EU mission in Kosovo, EULEX, in its current incarnation, is powerless to investigate organ trafficking. The Swiss senator advised for an ad hoc judicial structure to be set up, which would be located outside of Kosovo, should be created specially for the purpose.

Belgrade, Priština support investigation

After the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted Dick Marty’s report on Tuesday both Belgrade and Priština eagerly expect the investigation.

Marty also expects the investigation into human organ trade in Kosovo and Albania to begin.

Kosovo organ trafficking resolution adopted

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today in Strasbourg voted to adopt a resolution based on the Marty report. 169 PACE members voted in favor, while 8 voted against the document. The resolution calls on the international community and governments in Belgrade, PriÅ¡tina, as well as in Albania, to “undertake measures” in order to clear up the crimes.

Albanians submit petition, protest against Marty

A delegation of “organizations of war veterans of the KLA” was in Strasbourg on Tuesday.
They submitted a petition to Council Of Europe (CoE) Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland, which they said contained more than 230,000 signatures collected against the Kosovo human organ trafficking report by CoE Rapporteur Dick Marty.

Marty: I didn’t directly accuse Thaci

Council of Europe Rapporteur Dick Marty says he did not claim that it was Kosovo Albanian PM Hashim Thaci who took part in the human organ trafficking.

“If you read the report carefully, I never decidedly say that Mr. Thaci directly took part in the organ trade,” the CoE rapporteur stressed.

Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty has been invited to address the European Parliament Foreign Affairs Committee. Tanjug news agency previously reported that it had learned unofficially that EP MPs invited Marty to testify on his report regarding the Kosovo organ trafficking case.
