DSS wants mayor sacked over trees

Councilors from the opposition DSS- NS coalition in the Belgrade City Assembly have submitted a motion to dismiss Mayor Dragan Đilas. They said that the move came because of Đilas’ responsibility for material damage worth EUR 3mn, incurred by the felling of hundreds of plane trees from the city’s Kralja Aleksandra Blvd.

Disgraced mayor becomes SNS official

Former Zrenjanin Mayor and Democratic Party (DS) official Goran Knežević is the new Serb Progressive Party’s (SNS) commissioner for the Central Banat District. Knežević, who has recently become a member of SNS, told a news conference today that his new party was “young and new”, and had the “strength and people to make changes“.

“No price hikes for communal services”

Belgrade Mayor Dragan Đilas said that there will be no other increases in prices for communal services in Belgrade other than for heating. “We have no plan to increase the prices of other communal services. Recently, we even decreased the price of water and garbage removal,” Đilas said.

Mayor: EBRD loan conditions unacceptable
