French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said that Croatia will soon become the 28th member-state of the European Union. Croatian President Stjepan Mesić honored Kouchner in Dubrovnik in commemoration of 18 years since the Libertas convoy, which broke the blockade of the sea in Dubrovnik in 1991.

Croatian President Stjepan Mesić says that relations in the region have reached a major impasse since Kosovo unilaterally declared independence. Normalization of relations between Zagreb and Belgrade slowed after Croatia recognized Kosovo independence, and Serbian indignation has begun to spill over into Bosnia-Herzegovina and is seriously undermining the situation in that country and its stability, Mesić observed.

Croatian President Stjepan Mesić says that his country remains committed to regional cooperation and removing all obstacles in the way of such cooperation. Mesić added that Croatia would not use unresolved bilateral issues to slow down the Euro-Atlantic integration process of any of the other countries in the region.
