Suspected Nazi war criminal Peter Egner, whose extradition was requested by Serbia for murdering over 17,000 civilians during WW2, has died at the age of 88. Egner, who had been a resident of a retirement and assisted-living community in Bellevue, Washington, near Seattle, died there last week, according to a representative of the facility, Reuters reported.

Serbia sent Friday its formal request to the U.S. for the extradition of Peter Egner, Justice Minister Snežana Malović told Tanjug.
Egner, a naturalized American citizen, is suspected of serving in a Nazi unit that killed around 17,000 Jewish and other civilians during World War II.

The Netherlands has issued a European arrest warrant for a Dutch-born Nazi war criminal, Klaas-Carel Faber, now living in Germany. Faber, 88, was sentenced to death in 1947 for the deaths of Jews at the Westerbork transit camp but his term was commuted to life.

A court in Germany has formally charged alleged Nazi war criminal John Demjanjuk with 27,900 counts of being an accessory to murder in World War Two. State prosecutors in Munich said the charges were filed on Monday against the 89-year-old retired car worker who was extradited to Germany from the United States in May.
