Samsung, Motorola, RIM, Acer and Intel are just some of the companies angling their newest products toward holiday shoppers. Cardinals have confirmed the December 14 release of the double length opus III/IV on
Adams’ own Pax Am label.
III/IV compiles a wealth of material from a planned two-week session at New York City’s Electric Lady that
ended up running some six months and yielding over 60 tracks. Some of these eventually found a home on 2007′s
classic Easy Tiger, while the vast majority either languished in the vaults, turned up on the internet or were
aired once or twice in a live setting.
The December 14 release of III/IV marks the first time that this double-album concept rock opera about the
’80s, ninjas, cigarettes, sex, and pizza will be officially released in its entirety, as originally conceived and featuring
the definitive versions of these nearly lost classic tunes.
III/IV will be available in extremely limited red and blue vinyl (including download code), limited CD, and
infinite digital versions. The complete track listing is as follows:

Microsoft Lync 2010, a rebranding of the company’s Office Communications software suite, offers business users an end-user platform for enterprise VOIP (voice over IP), instant messaging, video and audio conferencing, and application and desktop sharing. In keeping with Microsoft’s drive toward interoperability, Lync will operate in conjunction with other software platforms such as Microsoft Office, SharePoint and Exchange. Research firm Forrester estimates that the overall unified communications market will be worth $14.5 billion by 2015, a ripe target for any software platform supple and sophisticated enough to appeal to businesses. During a recent demo in New York City, Microsoft executives demonstrated how Lync can allow groups of users to interface via voice or video, all while collaborating on a PowerPoint document. Because Lync integrates multiple services such as instant messaging, video and voice into a single client experience, experienced users can simultaneously juggle multiple tasks and calling partners. New York is also the site of Lync’s Nov. 17 launch, and Microsoft hopes that businesses interested in an integrated communications experience will choose the platform over others on the market.   – …

TOUR STARTS JANUARY 25 IN NEW YORK CITY

The Decemberists have
announced dates for what is being called “The Popes of Pendarvia World Tour 2011″. The tour starts January 25 at
the Beacon Theatre in NYC. Wye Oak
opens the first six dates of the tour, and Mountain Man will serve as the
opener for all remaining North American dates. The U.S. leg runs through February 19 before heading over to
Europe on March 4, ending on March 16 at the Hammersmith Apollo in London.
A limited presale for all North American dates is now underway here. Tickets will go onsale
to the public beginning Friday at 10am ET. Presales for the European dates begin November 17 at 9am, public
onsales begin November 19 at 9am.

Samsung’s next device in the Galaxy S line of Android-based smartphones, the Continuum, boasts one piece of hardware that differentiates it from its siblings: a 1.8-inch "ticker display" that feeds real-time information on everything from news to e-mails and missed calls. The ticker display can operate independently of the 3.4-inch main display, allowing users to check on the latest sports scores or stock-market crash while toying with an app or answering an e-mail. The Continuum will be available exclusively through Verizon Wireless later in November, for $199.99 with a mail-in rebate. During a Nov. 8 unveiling in New York City, Samsung executives suggested that some 3 million Galaxy S devices had sold in the United States since July. That makes the smartphones& currently offered on Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint and AT&T& a solid competitor to not only other Google Android devices from rival manufacturers, but also the Apple iPhone.
