Bosnian TV cancels news service

Radio Television of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (RTVFBiH) has canceled its radio and TV news service, Banja Luka-based daily Nezavisne Novine reports.
RTVFBiH Board of Directors has decided to cancel the news service “although this is the basic function of public broadcasters according to the law”, the daily writes.

Regional leaders “ready for new stage”

Serbian President Boris Tadić met on Monday in Banja Luka, RS, with the Bosniak (Muslim) member of Bosnia’s presidency, Bakir Izetbegović. They attended a ceremony organized by Nezavisne Novine daily, that chose Croatian President Ivo Josipović as its “personality of the year”.

U.S. focused on Bosnia, says official

A deputy assistant U.S. secretary of state says of the State Department and his country’s administration are now focused on Bosnia-Herzegovina. In an interview with Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine, Thomas Countryman said that he sees that concrete progress had been made both economically and politically, in Bosnia-Herzegovina.

British tourists warned of terrorist threat in Bosnia

The British Interior Ministry has warned its citizens traveling through Bosnia-Herzegovina that there is a high risk of terrorist attacks in the country. Banja Luka daily Nezavisne novine states that the ministry warned that after the recent attack on the police station in Bugojno, in which one police officer was killed, the danger of terrorist attacks in Bosnia has been heightened.

Bosnia: House packed with explosives

Bosnian police have uncovered more than 40 kilograms of powerful explosives stashed in an abandoned house in the town of Donji Vakuf. Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine writes today that an unnamed source said that further investigation would determine whether the explosives were intended for new terrorist attacks in that country.

“Saudi citizens spying on Dodik”

Officials of the Bosnian State Investigation and Protection Agency (SIPA) have arrested two Saudi Arabian citizens for spying on Milorad Dodik. Banja Luka’s Nezavisne Novine daily writes that the two suspected spies were arrested on June 28.

Ganić Bosnian citizen since 1998

Ejup Ganić, accused by Serbia of war crimes committed in Sarajevo in 1992, did not apply for Bosnian citizenship until May 8, 1998. Therefore, Ganić was a member of the Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency in wartime as a foreign citizen between 1992 and 1995, Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine writes.

Serbia expects Ganić arrest soon

The Serbian courts are expecting former Bosnia-Herzegovina Presidency member Ejup Ganić to be arrested at any moment, officials said.

War Crimes Prosecution spokesperson Bruno Vekarić told Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine that he did not want to give more detailed comments on what happened on Saturday at London’s Heathrow Airport, but he said that Ganić was held for six hours and his delegation was returned to Bosnia.

Bosniak leader warns of “clashes”

Clashes are possible in Bosnia if the work of state institutions is blocked and the Office of the High Representative closes, warns SDA leader Sulejman Tihić. In an interview with Banja Luka daily Nezavisne Novine, Tihić said that he did not know why his earlier statements had caused such a storm, as he was not calling for violence, but peace.
