Muslim council seeks “internationalization of problems”

A Bosniak national council, which has not been recognized by Serbia’s authorities, said they wold ask for support from Sarajevo.
Sarajevo should help the council make problems faced by Bosniaks (Muslims) in Serbia an international issue, it was announced on Sunday in Novi Pazar.

Violence at protest in Novi Pazar

Several people were injured as Bosniak protesters in Novi Pazar through stones at police officers securing the 1,500 strong protest on Saturday. The general council of the Islamic Community in Serbia, led by Muamer Zukorlić, announced Saturday that the confiscation of a plot of land in Novi Pazar, southwestern Serbia, which was supposedly received as endowment represented a “culmination of violence, discrimination and disrespect for basic Muslim rights,” and demanded a police withdrawal.

Mufti’s security man assaults school principal

Police in the town of Novi Pazar have arrested a man identified as Elvedin T., suspected of assaulting an elementary school principal. The suspect, who will face charges of attacking an official person while they were performing their duties, has been described as a member of the “first ring of security” for Islamic Community in Serbia leader Mufti Muamer Zukorlić.

Serbian flag torched in Novi Pazar

Police in Novi Pazar have arrested three persons suspected of torching the state flag of Serbia. The suspects were identified as 18 year-old Enes K., and Almir L. and Ferid S., both 19 years old.

15.5 kilos of heroin seized, 7 arrested

Seven suspected members of a crime group were arrested in the areas of the southwestern towns of Novi Pazar, Sjenica and Prijepolje. Serbian police (MUP) said that the group’s leader was Å erif M., and that other suspects included Danijel Đ. and Nenad M. of Belgrade, Novi Pazar residents Admir K. and Salem Å ., Emir L. from Sjenica, and Rudi G. from Prijepolje.

Novi Pazar: One man injured in explosion

An explosive device was rigged by an unknown perpetrator, injuring 32 year-old Naser Fujaljkić seriously. According to the Novi Pazar police, Fujaljkić entered his garage, activating the explosive device and sustaining life threatening injuries.

Police “cut intl. heroin smuggling route”

Serbian police (MUP) in Novi Pazar, Prijepolje and Kraljevo announced that they cut an international heroin trafficking route. The MUP officers in this area on Sunday arrested three persons and confiscated “around three kilograms and 150 grams of a substance suspected to be heroin”.

Body found on side of road

Two arrested for injuring policeman

IZS chief: Threats still regular occurrence

The Novi Pazar police have identified and detained one person, who two members of the Islamic Community of Serbia (IZS) claim sent them death threats. In a statement, the IZS said that the Community’s leader, reis Adem Zilkić, and the secretary of the IZS’s Tutin branch, Nusret Gusinac, received threatening phone calls on September 6.

N. Pazar brothel owner sentenced

The owner of a Novi Pazar nightclub has been handed down the definitive sentence of eight years in prison for organizing prostitution and human trafficking. Jet Set owner Brankica Ružić’s common law husband Hasib Å ećović was also found guilty and sentenced to four years and ten months in prison.
