Novo Group posts 667% jump in net profit to $16.5m in FY2010

Novo Group, the global steel and coal supply-chain management company, says net profit for financial period ended 30 April 2010 (FY2010) climbed 667% to US$12 million ($16.5 million) compared to net profit of US$1.6 million in FY2009.

Revenue for FY2010 was US$403 million, a 23% decline from FY2009 revenue of US$523.7 million but gross profit margin in FY2010 increased to 13.8% from 8.8% in FY2009.

Novo Group posts 422% rise 3Q net profit to $6.6m

Novo Group, the global steel and coal supply-chain manager, says net profit grew to US$4.7 million ($6.6 million) for the financial period ended 31 January 2010 (3QFY2010), up 422% from US$0.9 million in 3Q FY2009. Earnings per share in 3Q FY2010 rose to 0.78 US cents from 0.14 US cents in 3Q FY2009.

Group revenue for 3QFY2010 improved to US$127.7 million ($178.4 million), an increase of 67.7% from US$ 76.2 million in 3Q FY2009. This was due to a significant improvement in the performance of the group’s international steel trading division, contributing 85.7% of the group’s total revenue or US$109.5 million due to the growth in demand of semi-finished products in South East Asia market and the increase in steel price.

CIMB in a Jan 28 research report says: “Novo is a global steel and coal supply-chain management company with integrated support services. The group recently ventured into domestic trading and distribution in China and Hong Kong. Novo’s profitability has rebounded strongly with 1HFY10 net profit of US$5.5 million surpassing its FY2009 net profit of US$1.9 million.

Novo unit gets official nod for scrap processing land in China

Novo Group says Iron and Steel Resources Limited (ISRL), a subsidiary of the company, has obtained a letter of approval from the local the Chinese authorities that a 500m long Yangtze River coastal line together with 333,000 sqm of land be reserved to ISRL.

Novo Group posts 2Q profit of US$1.5m from loss a year ago

Novo Group, the global steel supply-chain management company, says the group achieved revenue of US$114.2 million ($158.6 million) for the three months ending Oct 31 (2Q2010) from US$81.2 million in 2Q2009, representing an increase of 40.6%.

Novo attributes the growth to the expansion of demand of raw materials in North Asia and the contribution of the domestic trading and distribution business in China and Hong Kong.

Investigation opens against three Serbs

An investigation against three Kosovo Serbs from Novo Brdo will begin before the EULEX prosecutor in Priština .

Witnesses Haqiva Demali and Seljami Beqiri from Novo Brdo are expected to be questioned in connection with the case.

Custody confirmed for K. Serbs

A court in Priština confirmed a month-long custody period for three Kosovo Serbs suspected of committing war crimes. They were arrested last week in the town of Novo Brdo, in the eastern part of the province.
