Lotus Plays Black Sabbath (10/30) Video Game Music (10/31)

OCTOBER 30 IN PORTLAND AND OCTOBER 31 IN SEATTLE

Halloween Poster

Over the past few years a musical costume has inspired Lotus‘ Halloween performances – ranging from the ’27 Conspiracy’ night featuring songs
from artists that passed away at that age as well as full garb of each (Cobain, Morrison, Pig Pen, Hendrix, Brian
Jones) – to last year’s David Bowie tribute which had each member adorned in the get-up of a different era Bowie.

This year Lotus presents two Halloween themes, taking place on 10/30 in Portland, OR at the Roseland Theatre and
10/31 in Seattle, WA at the Showbox at the Market. For Devil’s Night, Lotus are honoring the 40th anniversary of
the classic album Paranoid by Black Sabbath.

And for Seattle’s show on Halloween proper the band will be paying tribute to some of the music that has arisen
from Video Games.

Leland Sundries: Fall Tour/1st EP

ONE OF THE FRESHEST DEBUTS IN ’10 TOURS EAST COAST

“Leland Sundries singer/picker Nick Loss-Eaton’s the-Band-meets-Lou-Reed approach mates gnawing electric guitar and old-time acoustic six-string, banjo, and harmonica melodies with dry-witted, drawling, modern-day ennui.” -Boston Phoenix

Leland Sundries

Brooklyn indie-Americana music project Leland Sundries released their debut, The Apothecary EP, this past Tuesday, October 5 on upstart label L’Echiquier Records. AJK shuts to mark October 8 earthquake anniversary

MUZAFFARABAD (Online) – To pay homage to the martyrs of devastating earthquake that struck parts of Pakistan and AJK on October 8, 2005, a shutter down strike was observed here in Azad Jammu and Kashmir on Friday. Various organisations have threatened to hold a long march towards Islamabad against the government’s failure to complete the rehabilitation phase despite the passage of five years of the devastating earthquake that killed over 75,000 and left 3.5 million homeless. To mark the tragic day, AJK Law Minister Abdul Rashid Abbasi and other top officials attended a prayer ceremony and observed a minute silence, according to media reports.
Traders, students and civil society members held a demonstration across the city to protest against the governmentÂ’s lethargic attitude towards the ongoing rehabilitation work.
They said that hundreds of schools had yet to be repaired by the government.
“Thousands of homeless people are forced to sleep out in the open due to slow rehabilitation activities,” a protester said.
