Swiber wins 2 contracts valued at as much as $114m for offshore support vessels

Swiber Holdings, the integrated construction and support services provider to the offshore oil and gas industry, says it has won from major oil companies in South East Asia to provide offshore support vessels.

One contract will last for five months and the other will last for two years with options to extend annually for up to five years. The value of the contracts is expected to range between US$31.4 million ($43.7 million) and US$81.9 million if all the three annual options are exercised.

Berlian Laju rises 5% on positive news of offshore JV

Stocks of Berlian Laju Tanker (B66.SG) are heading higher as the market digests news of expansion into a new business area.

At 10:43 a.m., its shares were up 5% at 10.5 cents with order book quotes tipping near-term resistance at 11 cents, says CIMB.

The liquid bulk cargo shipper announced yesterday it was planning to establish joint venture with Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO) to move into Indonesian offshore support vessel market.

PT Berlian Laju Tanker forms JV to tap offshore support vessel sector in Indonesia

PT Berlian Laju Tanker Tbk (BLT), the third largest chemical tanker operator in the world, is moving into the Indonesian offshore support vessel market in a joint venture (JV) with Miclyn Express Offshore (MEO).

With a 50% stake in the proposed JV company named PT BLT Miclyn Offshore (PT BMO), BLT will make a foray into the Indonesian offshore support vessel market that has an estimated market size of US$200–250 million ($279–348 million) in revenues.

SBI Offshore posts 68% rise in 1H profit to $1.8m

Catalist-traded SBI Offshore, the engineering specialist in the marine and offshore industry, says profit rose by about 67.7%, from about US$0.8 million ($1.1 million) for the first six months ended 30 June 2008 (1H2008) to about US$1.3 million for the first six months ended 30 June 2009 (1H2009), generated by strong sales orders and higher commission revenue, which lifted the group’s revenue by about 68.7%, from about US$3.5 million in 1H2008 to about US$6 million in 1H2009.

Dec 7: Biosensors, CH Offshore, City Devs, Keppel

US stocks advanced last Friday as data showed the economy shed far fewer jobs than expected last month, brightening the outlook for the economy and profits.

Bulk carriers: The Baltic Dry Index, which measures the cost of shipping commodities, gained 1.1% in London Dec. 4, taking gains in the past three days to 7.1%. Cosco Corp. Singapore (COS SP), a China-based shipbuilder that also operates bulk carriers, fell 1.8% to $1.07. Mercator Lines Singapore (MRLN SP), an Indian bulk carrier, was unchanged at 30.5 cents. STX Pan Ocean Co. (STX SP), South Korea’s biggest bulk carrier, slipped 1.8% to $13.44.

CH Offshore clinches 4 charter deals worth $35.4m

CH Offshore says the company has entered into the following charters with third parties:

  • A two-year extension of time charter of one 5,000bhp (brake horse power) anchor-handling tug/supply vessel;
  • A 699-day time charter of one 5,400bhp anchor-handling tug/supply vessel;
  • A 14-month extension of time charter of one 4,826bhp anchor-handling tug/supply vessel; and
  • A 275-day extension of two bareboat charters of two 12,240bhp anchor-handling tug/supply vessels, with the option for further extension.

The total gross contract value for the charters is US$25.6 million ($35.4 million).

Swiber secures Myanmar offshore installation project worth $107m

Swiber Holdings, the provider of offshore offshore engineering and marine support services for the oil and gas industry, says that it has signed a Letter of Award with a Myanmar oil and gas company for a contract worth US$77 million ($106.5 million).

Under the deal, Swiber will install gas pipelines totalling 150km in length. The six-month project is expected to start in the 1st quarter of 2010 with the date of completion targeted for the 2nd quarter of 2010. Preparation work will begin in December.

Federal International unit bags $8.3m contract to install manifold skids on offshore platform

Federal International (2000) says its 100%-owned subsidiary Alton International (S) has won a contract of about US$6 million ($8.3 million) to install compact manifold skids on the Te Gaic Trang (TGT) Field Offshore Platform project in Vietnam.

Federal International (2000) is an engineering and procurement specialist in the energy sector.

Otto Marine unit wins $14m contract to gather offshore seismic data in New Zealand

Otto Marine, the offshore marine company which specialises in building complex, deeper water offshore support vessels and ship chartering, says its subsidiary Reflect Geophysical has won a US$10 million ($13.9 million) to gather offshore seismic information by Crown Minerals, the arm of the Ministry of Economic Development of New Zealand that manages the oil, gas, mineral and coal resources.
