Neste Oil says Singapore diesel plant ‘very close’ to starting

Neste Oil Oyj will soon begin making low-emissions diesel at a 550 million-euro ($762 million) plant in Singapore, ramping up production of a fuel that may provide a third of earnings in two years, a company official said.

“We’re very close to start-up,” Jarmo Honkamaa, deputy chief executive officer of Neste Oil, Finland’s only petroleum refiner, said yesterday in a telephone interview. “We’re well on time and within the budget” for the project, which uses plant and animal products as feedstock.

Oil rig builders up on positive sector view

Shares of oil rig builders Keppel Corp <KPLM.SI> and Sembcorp Marine <SCMN.SI> rose as much as 1.9% and 1.3% respectively on Monday as investors were bullish on the oil and gas sector.

At 11:40 a.m., shares of Keppel Corp were trading at $9.25 on a volume of 4.6 million shares.

Sembcorp Marine shares were trading at $3.99, with 1.8 million shares changing hands.

“The oil and gas sector is doing quite well today. It’s a rotational play,” said a local trader.

First Resources started at Buy by Phillip Securities

Phillip Securities starts First Resources (EB5.SG) at Buy with $1.33 target, says Dow Jones.

Phillip says company one of purest upstream planters in industry, managing about 115,000 ha of planted oil palm in Indonesia.

“The group has one of the youngest oil palms and we expect CPO production to increase with yields to continue to improve in the next few years,” says broker.

Sustainable palm oil body censures Indonesia’s PT Smart

An industry body for sustainable palm oil has made its first public censure of a member, saying Indonesia’s PT Smart Tbk (SMAR.JK) breached its principles and may face sanctions, and also ticked off the firm’s parent.

Smart last month released an independent audit after Greenpeace alleged Smart bulldozed high conservation value forests and damaged carbon-rich peatlands. The audit gave Smart a mixed score card, highlighting some instances in which Indonesia’s environmental laws were breached.

Technics awarded $35m contract from Vietsovpetro

Mainboard-listed Technics Oil and Gas, the integrator of compression systems and process modules for the offshore oil and gas sector, today announced that it has secured another EPCC contract from JV Vietsovpetro (VSP) for the provisioning of the topside equipments for wellhead satellite platforms named RC-6 and RC-7 for the “Dragon” oilfield in offshore Vietnam, worth an estimated $35 million.
