South Korea’s Samsung C&T Corporation (000830.KS) has won a US$200 million ($257.5 million) contract to build a third storage tank at Singapore’s upcoming liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal, the company said on Friday.
It won the contract from Singapore LNG Corporation (SLNG), and expects to complete the project by early 2014. The additional tank will allow the terminal to handle up to 6 million tonnes per year (tpy).

Hyundai Engineering & Construction Co. said it received an order from Asia Square Tower 2 Pte to build an office building in Singapore’s Marina Bay area for about US$350 million ($453 million). Shares of oil rig builders Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI) and Sembcorp Marine (SCMN.SI) rose on Monday as investors expect the firms to continue winning orders, especially for more technologically advanced rigs.
Shares of Keppel Corp and Sembcorp Marine rose as much as 1.9% each. At 0351 GMT, Keppel shares were up 1.4% at $11.48 on a volume of 2 million shares, while Sembcorp gained 0.6% at $5.40 with 3.1 million shares changing hands.

Shares of rig-maker Sembcorp Marine (SCMN.SI) rose as much as 2% after it won two contracts worth US$400 million ($525 million) from Noble Corporation (NE.N) to build two jackup rigs, with options for another four that could lift the total value to US$1.2 billion.
At 11:23 a.m., Sembcorp Marine shares were up 1.8% at $5.08 on a volume of 2.2 million shares, nearly 40% of its average traded volume in the last 30 days.
