Poll: DS 35%; SNS 31%

If parliamentary elections were held tomorrow, the Democratic Party would poll highest with 35% of the vote, according to a Strategic Marketing poll for August. The poll was conducted just before the adoption of the controversial media law on a sample of 1,500 adults.

Repeat voting at two Kosovo polling stations

Voting in the local parliamentary elections for the municipalities of Priština and Peć was repeated at two polling stations on Sunday. Coordinator of the Election Commission (RIK) Veljko Odalović told Tanjug news agency that both stations closed last night without any noticeable irregularities.

New Serbia leader: Govt. in crisis

New Serbia leader Velimir Ilić said that the government is in crisis and that new parliamentary elections are unavoidable. “There are a million problems in agriculture and in investments. This government must do something, or perform a reconstruction or organize in a different way,” he said.

Koštunica: Elections needed to end agony

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica called on the government to announce emergency parliamentary elections. He said that the government is “holding the entire nation as a hostage to the relations within the ruling coalition.”

Opposition set to win Moldovan poll

Results from Moldova’s parliamentary elections show that pro-Western opposition parties have enough votes to unseat the ruling Communist Party. The country’s opposition holds a narrow lead with 50.8 percent to the Communists’ 45.1 percent, with 98 percent of the vote counted.
