Serb party wants to join Thaci

Independent Liberal Party (SLS) leader Slobodan Petrović says his party is willing to form a ruling coalition with Hashim Thaci’s Democratic Party of Kosovo.

“The good experience we had with the ruling parties during the last term will help us make the decision to be part of the Kosovo government once again. What is important and clear for the SLS is our determination to support the political principles based in European values,” Petrović said in an interview with BBCAlbanian.com.

Minister blamed for problems in Sandžak

The Liberal-Democratic Party (LDP) has asked for Human and Minority Rights Minister Svetozar Čiplić to be sacked over the situation in the Raška District.
The southwestern region of Serbia, known also as Sandžak, is home to a large Bosniak (Muslim) minority, and LDP party official Ivan Adrić said in parliament in Belgrade on Tuesday that Čiplić is the generator of all the problems and conflicts there.

Opposition party sets date for rally

The opposition Serb Progressives (SNS) have scheduled an anti-government rally in Belgrade for February 4. The Serb Radical Party (SRS) offshoot has not been tested in a general election, but opinion polls consistently show it to be one of the two most popular political parties in Serbia, along with the ruling Democrats (DS).

Serb party says won’t join Thaci

One of the Serb parties that took part in elections organized by the Kosovo Albanian government said they would not join a coalition with Hashim Thaci. Radamila Trajković, who was running in the recent Kosovo elections for the United Serb List (JSL), stated on Thursday that members of the civic initiative will not form a coalition with the outgoing Kosovo Albanian PM, whose party won majority of the vote.

Montenegrin PM steps down

DS gets new leadership

The Democratic Party (DS) elected its new leadership at the Election Convention on Saturday.

According to the DS, a total of 2,701 delegates voted in the party elections.

Tadić: Democrats to stay on EU path

Democratic Party (DS) leader Boris Tadić has stated that his party will not abandon the EU path.

He said at the DS Election Convention in Belgrade that the DS had launched a campaign for strong and European Serbia in 2007 and that this path should never be abandoned.

Thaci party victory confirmed

The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) headed by Hahim Thaci won 33.5 percent of the vote in the Kosovo election. Among Serb parties the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) had the best result, the Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC) stated on Monday evening based on the preliminary results.
