Asiatravel.com posts net profit of $5.5m for full year

Asiatravel.com Holdings, the regional online travel and hotel reservation service provider, posted a net profit attributable to shareholders of $5.5 million for its FY2009 results ended Sept 30, 2009, an improvement of 0.7% over that in FY2008.

Revenue for the full year rose 4.3% to $89.4 million from $85.7 million.

Cerebos Pacific posts 26% rise in 4Q net profit to $25.1m

Cerebos Pacific today says it posted a 26% rise in 4th quarter FY2008/9 net profit to $25.1 million from $19.8 million in the 4th quarter of last year. Operating profit before interest and tax was 10% above the 4th quarter of last year, mainly from stronger sales in most product categories in most of its major markets.

For the full year FY2008/9, Cerebos achieved a net profit of $82.8 million ($81 million in FY2007/8) on level turnover of $775.2 million. Excluding the translation loss of $59.9 million, the growth in full-year turnover would have been 8%, driven by the growth from all three core businesses of Health Supplements, Coffee and Sauces. Group operating profit was 4% lower than the previous year. Excluding the translation loss of $4 million, Operating Profit would have been on par with last year. Return on shareholders’ funds was a respectable 22.8%.

BRC Asia posts 271% rise in net profit to $16.5m for FY09

BRC Asia, the provider of prefabricated steel reinforcement in Singapore, saw a 271% y-o-y jump in net profit for the financial year ended Sept 30 (FY09) to $16.5 million as Singapore’s construction sector remained strong, backed by a slew of projects in the public sector.

BRC says it enjoyed a 33% increase in revenue from $203.6 million in FY08 to $270.6 million in FY09 as higher sales volume helped offset a fall in unit selling prices which decreased in tandem with lower steel prices.

Marco Polo Marine posts 10% fall in FY09 net profit to $10.1m

Marco Polo Marine, the integrated marine logistics group, says group revenue rose 19% to $54.5 million for the financial year ended Sept 30, 2009 (FY2009) from $45.9 million in FY2008, driven by the strong growth in ship chartering and ship repair businesses.

However, full-year net profit fell 10% to $10.1 million in FY2009 from $11.1 million in FY2008.

Sprint Posts Loss, Puts Faith in Palm Pre, Pixi, Android

Sprint lost 801,000 post-paid subscribers during the fourth quarter, which was an improvement the quarter before. Slowing the exodus is an expanding device portfolio. In addition to the Palm Pre, Sprints lineup will soon include the Palm Pixi and the Android-running HTC Hero and Samsung Moment.

Microsoft Posts Sidekick Restore Link On T-Mobile Web Site

Microsoft continues to work on the data-loss situation for T-Mobile Sidekick owners, posting a link on the My.T-Mobile Web site on Oct. 20 allowing users of the smartphone to restore their personal contacts. Other information such as photographs and notes will be restored at a later date. A server failure at Microsoft subsidiary Danger, Inc. reportedly led to the personal data loss for a portion of 800,000 Sidekick owners earlier in October.

Apple Posts $9.87B Revenue, Cites Strong iPhone, ‘Snow Leopard’ Sales

Apple reports strong fiscal fourth-quarter results based on increased Mac and iPhone sales, although its iPod sales declined from the same quarter in 2008. Apple Chief Financial Officer Peter Oppenheimer indicates that Apple’s newest operating system, code-named Snow Leopard, has been selling at twice the speed of the original Leopard.

AMD Posts Financial Loss but Sees PC Demand Increasing

PEC posts 9% dip in FY09 net profit to $24.5m

PEC, the engineering specialist for the oil and gas and petrochemical industries, today says for the full year ended 30 June 2009 (FY2009), the group posted a 40% year-on-year increase in revenue to an all-time high of $440.5 million from $314.6 million in FY2008.

PEC says the increase was mainly due to increased revenue contributions of $132.8 million from project works in the Middle East and Singapore but partially offset by a decrease of $7.2 million in revenue contributions from lower maintenance activities.
