President’s cabinet confirms Croatia visit

President: Mladić arrest matter of time

Serbian President Boris Tadić says that he believes it is a matter of time before Hague fugitive Ratko Mladić is arrested. He told Belgrade-based daily Blic that he would not “make a prognosis” as to when exactly the arrest would happen, but added he hoped it would be “in the foreseeable future”.

President addresses recent violence

President Boris Tadić has stated that hooligans will very soon be punished and that they will not halt Serbia’s EU integration process.

Tadić told Italian RAI TV that some of the hooligans would very soon stand trial.

The hooligan unrest in Genoa this week was directed against the Serbian FAA head and ordered by leaders of the most extreme Red Star fan groups.

Serbian President Boris Tadić late on Wednesday apologized to Italy’s PM Silvio Berlusconi over incidents in Genoa on Tuesday. Red Star hooligans caused clashed which eventually led to the match between Serbia and Italy to be called off.

Ahmadinejad arrives in Lebanon

Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad has arrived in Lebanon for his first state visit to that country. During his visit, Ahmadinejad is expected to meet with Lebanon’s president and the pro-Western prime minister, and is also to make public appearances expected to draw giant crowds in two of the Islamic militia Hizballah’s strongholds – one in south Beirut, another in the town of Bint Jbeil near the border with Israel.
