Belgrade, Priština support investigation

After the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe adopted Dick Marty’s report on Tuesday both Belgrade and Priština eagerly expect the investigation.

Marty also expects the investigation into human organ trade in Kosovo and Albania to begin.

Priština: Negotiations not in sight

Priština officials and analysts do not expect the negotiations with Belgrade to begin soon, but point out that the talks will only be technical.

The public in Kosovo expects that the government will be formed first, based on the results of the December parliamentary elections which are late.

Priština media: No agreement on license plates

Media in Priština report that Belgrade and Priština have not reached an agreement on new Serbian license plates.

Kosovo Interior Minister Bajram Rexhepi has also confirmed the information.

“Serbia ready to negotiate with Priština”

The government and Commission for Missing Persons are ready to begin negotiations with Priština, Commission for Missing Persons Head Veljko Odalović said today.

“If talks were to begin today, we would be absolutely ready for them,” he told a news conference and added that, regardless of the current situation, the commission had continuity in its work in the southern Serbian province.

Ivanović to EULEX: Priština is hotbed of crime

An official of the Ministry for Kosovo has reacted to the news that EULEX has a “special unit” to fight crime in northern, Serb areas of Kosovo. State Secretary Oliver Ivanović said on Wednesday that it was PriÅ¡tina that was a hotbed of organized crime and corruption, and that the EU mission in the province “should pay attention to that fact”.

Priština residents have heating for 6 hrs each day

The inhabitants of Priština, Kosovo, have heating only six hours a day, three in the morning and three in the evening. This comes due to shortages in heating oil and lack of funds to buy more of the fuel, used for heating residential and other areas.

Priština media on Prizren ceremony, MUP in north

Albanian language newspapers published in PriÅ¡tina are report about the ceremony that saw Bishop Teodosije become the head of the SPC RaÅ¡ka-Prizren Eparchy. They describe the act as political, quoting Serbian Orthodox Church (SPC) Patriarch Irinej’s address, and the fact that several government ministers attended the ceremony in the town of Prizren.

U.S. “expects cooperation from PriÅ¡tina”

A U.S. state department official says his country expects both Priština and Tirana to cooperate with any possible organ trade investigation.
U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary for European and Eurasian Affairs Thomas Countryman spoke in reference to accusations of organ trafficking in Kosovo and the involvement of Kosovo Albanian Prime Minister Hashim Thaci, which were published in the report of Council of Europe (CoE) rapporteur Dick Marty.

“No agreement on new govt. in PriÅ¡tina”

Agim Ceku says that leader of Alliance for a New Kosovo Bedzet Pacoli and leader of Democratic Party of Kosovo Hashim Thaci have not reached any agreement. Reports previously said that they would form the new government in Priština.

IM expects speedy dialogue with Priština

Serbian Interior Minister Ivica Dacic expects that peace will be preserved in Kosovo after the elections and that dialogue will begin as soon as possible.

“Serbia has been ready for dialogue for some time now, the team that will head the talks has been established and we expect the international community to be present at the talks as well,” he told a news conference on Sunday.

FM: Priština not ready for dialogue

FM Vuk Jeremić says that Serbia had developed a strategy for its dialogue with Priština, which, he said, is still not ready to start the dialogue with Belgrade.
“So it seems according to the information we receive from our partners in the international community. Although we believe that it would be better for all of us to start the talks as soon as possible, we will be patient,” Jeremić said in an interview published by Blic today.

EULEX vehicle attacked in Priština

An EULEX vehicle was damaged in an attack that happened in the vicinity of the EULEX headquarters in Priština, said a spokesperson for the EU mission in Kosovo. “An EULEX vehicle was damaged in the attack on Tuesday morning, near the EULEX headquarters in Priština,” said Irina Gudeljević.

PM talks dialogue with Priština, EU integration

The goal of the dialogue with Priština is reconciliation of Kosovo Albanians and Serbs, said Serbian Prime Minister Mirko Cvetković.

He told Czech daily Lidove Noviny that “the issue of the recognition of Kosovo is set aside for now”.

FM: Priština still not ready for dialogue

Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić says that that unlike Belgrade, Priština is still not ready for a dialogue, at least not before elections in the province. “Our government was unanimous in its call to our citizens not to take part in the elections, because the elections were not called in keeping with United Nations Security Council Resolution 1244, according to which only the chief of the UNMIK can call them, which he failed to do,” Jeremić said in the central Serbian town of Čačak late on Wednesday.

“Serbia wants dialogue as soon as possible”

Serbia wants the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina to begin as soon as possible, Serbian Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić said on Friday in New York.

We also expect it to focus on the least controversial issues first, he said addressing the UN Security Council regular session dedicated to work of the UN mission in the provincem, UNMIK, at which UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon presented his quarterly report on the situation in Kosovo.

PriÅ¡tina authorities block minister’s visit

The authorities in Kosovo have not allowed Minister for Kosovo and Metohija Goran Bogdanović to visit the village of Prilužje, near Obilić.
The ministry has asked EULEX to, in line with its mandate and powers, secure unimpeded visits of Minister Bogdanović to the southern Serbian province.

Government in Priština falls

The Kosovo assmebly in Priština has voted in favor of a no-confidence motion against the government on Tuesday. Sixty-six out of 120 deputies voted to bring down the government, while there was one vote opposed and two abstained.

Priština government faces no confidence vote

The Kosovo assembly in Priština is expected to vote against Hashim Thaci’s government next week, probably on Wednesday or Thursday.

Such decision would be enough to call early elections in Kosovo and there are speculations that they could be held on December 12 or 19.

Priština: Assembly dissolves after fall session

International Civilian Representative (ICR) Pieter Feith has stated that the Kosovo assembly will be dissolved after the fall session. This will be followed by early elections.

Priština: Coalition in place until elections

Leaders of two major parties of Kosovo Albanians and coalition partners Hashim Thaci and Fatmir Sejdiu agreed to temporarily maintain their coalition.
Thus the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo will continue to cooperate. The two also agreed to call early elections, PriÅ¡tina’s daily Koha Ditore reported on Friday.
