Singapore’s industrial output growth slows to four-month low

Singapore’s industrial production rose at the slowest pace in four months as electronics and pharmaceutical manufacturers capped output amid easing orders.

Manufacturing, which accounts for about a quarter of the economy, climbed 9% in December from a year earlier after a revised 40.5% increase in November, the Economic Development Board said in a statement today. The median estimate of 12 economists surveyed by Bloomberg News was for a 16.8% gain. Production grew 29.7% in 2010.

Shares up on US production data, coal shortage lifts Straits Asia

Singapore shares rose 0.6% by the midday break on Tuesday, following the regional stock market trend as investors took heart from strong U.S. manufacturing data reported overnight.
 
Indonesia-based coal miner Straits Asia Resources (STRL.SI) was amongst the outperformers, as concerns that a shortage of coal due to heavy flooding in Australia could lift prices and benefit miners outside of Australia, traders said.

Panasonic to launch production in January

Panasonic has announced that the production in Serbia should start on January 10, 2011.

The Japanese company established a new company in Svilajnac, central Serbia, in November to manufacture energy-efficient electronic devices for lighting equipment.

No casualties in factory blasts

The military production part of the Sloboda factory in ÄŒačak has been hit with a series of explosions; it has been confirmed that no one was injured. MUP Emergency Situations Sector chief Predrag Marić said earlier today that the first explosion happened at around 16:30 CET in an isolated storage facility and that “most likely there have been no casualties”.

China Paper to invest in $3.9m paper stationery production facility

Mainboard-listed China Paper Holdings, the vertically-integrated mixed pulp paper and paper chemical products manufacturer, says it will invest in the construction of a new paper stationery production facility.

China Paper says unit Biosuccess Limited has established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Linyi San Xin Paper Products Company, for the investment.

Panasonic to start Serbia production

Panasonic consumer electronics maker will start production in its new plant in the Serbian town of Svilajnac in early 2011. This is according to Deputy Municipal President Predrag Milanović, who also stated that the Japanese multinational company’s local plant will employ first workers as soon as in early December.

China Animal Healthcare unit receives regulatory nod to start commercial production and sale of …

China Animal Healthcare says the company’s subsidiary, Biwei Antai, has received regulatory approvals from China’s Ministry of Agriculture (MOA) to start commercial production and sale of its Foot-and-Mouth Disease (FMD) vaccines. The administrative issuance of the relevant drug numbers by the MOA is expected to follow in due course. With the receipt of such approvals, China Animal Healthcare will be able to participate in tenders for the purchase of such vaccines which are called by regional government animal disease control centres in China.

Italian investors satisfied in Serbia

Ziwo Holdings announces $24m expansion plan to boost production capacity

Mainboard-listed Ziwo Holdings, the China-based raw material producer of import substitution products, today announced that it plans to invest around RMB123.8 million ($24 million) to expand its production facilities to meet rising demand for its products.

Ziwo says the investment will be funded using the group’s internally generated funds and/or, if required, loans from financial institutions.
