SNS, DSS can’t have broader cooperation

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) and the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) believe that there is no need for attacks, SNS leader Tomislav Nikolić says.

He told B92 that in a talk with DSS leader Vojislav Koštunica on Friday, he insisted that “there should not be conflicts among the opposition, even when there is disagreement.”

DSS, SNS fail to agree on Constitution

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica says that his party and the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) do not agree on the Constitution.

He added that the DSS would continue to oppose amending it.

Democrats reject “two-party” accusations

The ruling Democratic Party (DS) denied on Thursday they were attempting to create a two-party system in Serbia. DS Vice President Jelena Trivan said her party was not working to this end with the opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) – a fear that was voiced by the Democrats’ partners from the current government, the Socialists (SPS).

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) will submit its initiative for the change of the Constitution in order to reduce the number of MPs on Thursday.

The Progressives have rescheduled their rally for February 5.

Postal service manager arrested

Police have taken Serbia’s postal service, PTT, Deputy Director MiloÅ¡ Miščević into custody on Sunday, in connection to a recent election scandal.
Miščević is also a senior official of the ruling Democratic Party (DS). He is suspected of organizing the distribution of false payment slips with opposition Serb Progressive Party (SNS) logos ahead of the recent elections in the eastern town of Bor.
