Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Polish counterpart Bronislaw Komorowski signed in Warsaw a declaration of cooperation in economic modernization. The two sides agreed to cooperate in the research and development of innovative and environmentally-friendly technologies and recognized that Russia’s accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO) will promote cooperation between Russia and the EU.

The air-travel chaos was not enough to keep Dmitry Medvedev from attending the funeral of Lech Kaczynski.
Unlike other world leaders who couldn’t make it because of the disruption caused by the volcanic eruption, the Russian President did manage to fly to Poland, where he urged closer relations between the two countries.
