Governments for the United States and Brazil combined to issue more than 7,000 data requests and 400 requests for content removal from Google from July 2009 to December 2009, according to Google’s new Government Requests tool. The tool, geared to provide transparency around the requests for data and content removal from governments in countries all over the world, presents data overlaid on Google Maps technology.
