PM “expects detailed investigation”

PM Mirko Cvetković says he expects a detailed investigation to follow the adoption of the PACE resolution on the allegations of organ trafficking in Kosovo. Cvetković told Tanjug that the resolution supports the Serbian government view that war crimes were committed by all sides during the conflicts in the former Yugoslavia, but added that Belgrade did not wish to turn the issue into a political matter.

Kosovo organ trafficking resolution adopted

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) today in Strasbourg voted to adopt a resolution based on the Marty report. 169 PACE members voted in favor, while 8 voted against the document. The resolution calls on the international community and governments in Belgrade, PriÅ¡tina, as well as in Albania, to “undertake measures” in order to clear up the crimes.

PACE to debate Kosovo organ trade report

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will today start a debate on the Kosovo organ trafficking resolution submitted by Dick Marty. The Swiss senator was appointed the CoE special rapporteur in the case, and in late 2010 presented his findings in a document that was used as a basis for the draft resolution.

Serbia “not required” to give up territory

Oliver Ivanović believes that the recent EP resolution on Serbia “does not require” that the country renounce its southern province. The recommendations concerning Kosovo and Metohija included in the European Parliament (EP) resolution “do not imply” that the European Union has such requirements, said the state secretary for Kosovo.

“Resolution not obstacle for negotiations”

Serbian Foreign Ministry Political Director Borko Stefanović says that the Council of Europe’s resolution on Serbia will not hinder Belgrade-Priština talks.

He told B92 that CoE Rapporteur Dick Marty’s report on human organ trafficking and the process that would follow the report were separate from the Belgrade-Priština negotiations.

EP Serbia resolution to be presented

EP Rapporteur for Serbia Jelko Kacin will on Tuesday present the Serbian parliament Foreign Affairs Committee with the draft resolution on Serbia. It confirms that the country’s future is within the EU, adding that full cooperation with the ICTY is a condition for the continuation of Serbia’s EU integration.

European Parliament (EP) is currently preparing a resolution on Serbia which will be the most positive one so far, MEP Hannes Swoboda has announced.

He said that Serbia was unambiguously a part of Europe although it still was not a part of the EU.

Russia introduces anti-Nazi resolution to UN

Russia has introduced to the UN a draft resolution condemning the glorification of Nazism and the desecration of World War II monuments. The UN General Assembly committee on social and humanitarian issues will vote on the document at the beginning of next week. The UN General Assembly, which usually supports the decision of the committee, will look at the resolution in mid-December.

Russian FM: Base Kosovo dialogue on 1244

Russian FM Sergei Lavrov says that the future dialogue between Belgrade and PriÅ¡tina should be based on UN Security Council Resolution 1244. Lavrov stated that his country favored “all moments concerning the solution of the Kosovo question to be solved based on that resolution”.

DSS: Resolution disgrace for Serbia

Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS) leader Vojislav Koštunica said that by agreeing to amend its Kosovo resolution Serbia has suffered disgrace and great harm. “The fact that many countries defended Serbia in the UN General Assembly is humiliating, all the more so because they had no one to defend, as Serbia had given up on defending itself,” Koštunica said.

UNGA adopts Kosovo resolution unanimously

The United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted the draft resolution on Kosovo submitted by Serbia and supported by the EU. Foreign Minister Vuk Jeremić presented the resolution to the General Assembly before the voting, stating that the resolution was “fundamentally neutral in status.”

SNS calls resolution agreement “debacle”

Domestic officials, parties react to resolution

Most state and party officials have welcomed the government’s decision to submit a harmonized resolution together with the EU to the UN General Assembly. By harmonizing the resolution with the EU, the conditions have been met for the document to be adopted by a consensus in the UN General Assembly, without voting, said the Chief of the Serbian Mission to the UN Fedor Starčević.
