SPH posts 30% rise in 3Q net profit to $165m

SPH has posted a 29.9% rise in 3Q net profit to $164.6 million from $126.7 million for the 3Q ending May 31, 2010. Operating revenue was up 26.9% to $415 million from $327 million. Revenue from Newspaper and Magazine was up 19.8% to $265.9 million, while revenue from Property was up 43.4% to $135.3 million.

Strong Android Smartphone Sales Boost HTC Revenue 58%

The HTC brand, since buddying up with Google’s Android OS, has had a number of successful smartphones, and on July 6 it posted the figures to prove it. HTC says its net income jumped 33 percent for the second quarter, and total revenue exceeded 58 percent year over year. Scorpio East posts $3.8m net loss for FY10

Scorpio East Holdings swung to a net loss of $3.76 million for the financial year ended 30 April 2010 (FY2010) compared to a net profit of $1.02 million in FY2009 due mainly to poor box office results and impairment provision of two films that were released in the theatres.

Revenue decreased 14% to $20.21 million in FY2010 from $23.56 million in FY2009. This was mainly due to decrease in revenue from video distributions offset by the increase in contribution from live entertainment productions and concerts, content productions, and rental income.

Vegas Sands targets Asia for 90% of revenue as rollers return

Las Vegas Sands Corp., the casino company of billionaire Sheldon Adelson, expects 90% of its revenue to come from Asia by 2020, as its Singapore resort ramps up and more of China’s gamblers visit Macau.
 
“I don’t think there was a recession in this part of the world, and therefore that didn’t affect gaming very much,” Adelson said in an interview while in Singapore for the Marina Bay Sands resort’s grand opening. “We hope that 90% of our income comes from Asia” within 10 years, he said.

Dell Reports Improved Q1 Revenue, Talks Tablet

Dell reports revenue of $14.9 billion and net income of $584 million for the first quarter of its fiscal 2011. Asked about the iPad and HP’s purchase of Palm, CEO Michael Dell said he sees the tablet PC as creating a whole new purchase pattern. – Dell reported a strong first quarter for its fiscal year 2011, with revenue

Roxy-Pacific Holdings, the homegrown specialty property and hospitality group, posted a 42% increase in net profit to $9 million for the first quarter ended March 31, 2010 (Q1FY2010) on the back of a 60% jump in revenue to $61 million. The company attributed the higher revenue to a 80% rise in revenue from the property development segment.

SingTel profit rises on revenue from Optus, Bharti: Update

Singapore Telecommunications, Southeast Asia’s largest phone company, said fourth-quarter profit rose 12% after revenue increased at its regional businesses and its Optus unit in Australia.

Net income gained to $1.02 billion, or 6.4 cents a share, in the three months ended March 31, from $903 million, or 5.7 cents, a year earlier, the company said in a statement today. That compares with the $1.01 billion median estimate of three analysts surveyed by Bloomberg News.

DBS Vickers Securities in a May 12 research report says: “Sim Lian reported 3Q10 PATMI of $18.4 million (+38% y-o-y) on $203.2 million of revenue (+132%). Revenue was underpinned by progressive recognition of revenue at its development projects which have been substantially sold, as well as an 83% y-o-y increase in revenue contribution from its construction division.

Parkway Holdings posts 10% rise in 1Q profit to $25.8m

Parkway Holdings, the operator of private hospitals, says profit after tax and minority interests (PATMI) excluding exceptional items, increased by 10% to $25.8 million for the three months ended 31 March 2010 (1Q 2010). Group revenue grew by 8% to $247.6 million compared to $229.6 million in the corresponding year-ago period.

Revenue from Parkway’s Singapore Operations grew by 10% to $165.3 million in 1Q 2010 compared to $150.3 million in the previous corresponding quarter. The group’s Singapore operations remain its largest revenue contributor, accounting for 67% of total revenue in 1Q.

OKP Holdings posts 10% rise in 1Q net profit to $3.5m

OKP Holdings, the infrastructure and civil engineering company, says the group posted a revenue of $33.9 million and net profit after tax of $3.5 million for the first quarter ended 31 March 2010 (1QFY2010), up 14.5% and 10.1% compared to the same corresponding quarter a year ago respectively.

OKP says the construction segment continued to contribute the lion’s share of overall revenue, recording revenue of $27.4 million for the quarter, an increase of $6.5 million or 31.1% from the $20.9 million in the previous corresponding period. This was mainly attributed to a higher percentage of revenue recognised from a few construction projects which were in full swing in the period under review.

SATS posts 10% rise in 4Q net profit to $46.5m

SATS says group revenue for the fourth quarter (1 January – 31 March) increased to $390.6 million, up 20% (+$64.1 million) over the same period last year.

This was due to the full consolidation of SFI which contributed revenue of $165.1 million, compared to the two-month revenue contribution of $110.2 million in the fourth quarter of FY2008-09. Higher aviation revenue of $218.7 million, up from $209.1 million, also led to higher group revenue.
