Research In Motion used the Consumer Electronics Show to reveal a little more about the PlayBook, its 7-inch tablet aimed at both an enterprise and consumer audience. In contrast to the Apple iPad and growing legions of Android-based tablets, RIM made the decision to build its own proprietary operating system for the device. Hardware-wise, the PlayBook includes front- and rear-facing cameras for video conferencing, and a dual-core processor for running multiple apps simultaneously. Business users may be attracted to the PlayBook’s ability to tether with their BlackBerry. RIM let eWEEK fiddle with the PlayBook for a few minutes at CES, and the experience was largely a smooth one.
