Riot Fest (October 6-10, 2010, Chicago, IL) is bringing a plethora of top-notch bands from every era of
punk rock for the 2010. Cap’n Jazz, Pennywise, Jello
Biafra and the Guantanamo School of Medicine, The Bronx, Busted at Oz, Torche and Kylesa join this mind-boggling line-up, taking place at multiple venues across Chicago
from October 6 – 10.
An array of punk bands will take the stages at Congress Theater, Metro, House of Blues, Double Door and
Subterranean. There will 17 shows over five venues (not including secret shows), making 5 day passes economical.
2010 will find shuttle buses running from Cobra Lounge (there is ample free parking nearby) to each venue and back,
where rumor has it that late-night free shows will be going down. A series of official Riot Fest secret shows will be
announced via RiotFest.org; they’ll take place undisclosed locations
over the summer and fall.

Arrested over Belfast riot shootings
Two men have been arrested by police investigating a shooting in which three police officers were injured in north Belfast on 12 July.
The men, aged 25 and 35, were taken to Antrim police station for questioning about the gun attack in North Queen Street, during a riot on Monday.

At least 23 dead in prison riot in Mexico
Rival gangs clashed inside a notorious prison in the Mexican state of Durango on Wednesday, leaving at least 23 inmates dead, officials said. Army and federal troops as well as police were sent in to quell fighting between gangs which broke out shortly after breakfast at the jail housing

Arrests at new Iranian protests

Iranian riot police are reported to have arrested a number of pro-reform protesters in Tehran after demonstrations turned violent.
Police clashed with hundreds of people marching despite a ban on public gatherings since the disputed election in June, Reuters news agency said.
The re-election of President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad sparked widespread protests and allegations of vote-rigging.
Defeated candidate Mir-Hossein Mousavi has continued to contest the result.
Mr Mousavi has issued statements opposing the election result, saying detention of protesters would not end opposition.
A reformist former prime minister of Iran, he has received backing from several senior figures within the Iranian establishment.
Among them are two former presidents, Hashemi Rafsanjani and Mohammad Khatami.
On Monday Mr Khatami called for a referendum on the legitimacy of the government.
Mr Khatami, quoted on Iranian websites, said millions of Iranians had lost faith in the electoral process.</p
