China Fishery Group posts 8% rise in 1Q net profit to $25m

Mainboard-listed industrial fishing company China Fishery Group says net profit rose 7.9% y-o-y to US$19.7 million ($25 million) for the first quarter of the financial year ending 28 September 2011 (1QFY2011).

Group revenue rose 13.4% to US$115.1 million from US$101.4 million in the same period last year.

Tuan Sing posts 53% rise in full-year net profit to $68.2m

Tuan Sing Holdings says it posted a net profit after tax attributable to shareholders of $68.2 million for the year ended 31 December 2010, an increase of 53% compared to last year.

Property generated profit after tax of $52.3 million, driven by strong sales and profit recognition on Lakeside Ville Phase III in Shanghai and a fair value gain of $28.6 million largely from investment properties in Singapore.

Z-obee posts 72% rise in 3Q net profit to $4m

Z-obee Holdings, the designer of mobile handsets, says it posted a 71.8% rise in net profit to US$3.1 million ($4 million) for 3QFY2011 compared to US$1.8 million in 3QFY2010 although revenue decreased by 19.6% to US$37.1 million from US$46.2 million. The revenue fall was due to a trimming down by the group of the distribution and marketing segment which was the least profitable.

Hour Glass posts 21% rise in 3Q net profit to $11.1m

The Hour Glass Limited, the purveyor of luxury watches, says net profit after tax improved by 21% to $11.1 million on higher gross margins attained for the third quarter ended 31 December 2010 (3Q FY2011). Group revenue was $144.2 million, a slight increase from $142.3 million from the last corresponding quarter.

Rokko posts 142% rise in full-year earnings to $4.3m

Rokko Holdings reported a 44.3% increase in revenue to $42.6 million and a 142% surge in earnings to $4.3 million for the year ended Dec 31, 2010 on pent-up demand for semiconductor equipment. A final dividend of 0.5 cent a share was proposed.

Wing Tai posts 142% rise in 2Q earnings to $54m

Property developer Wing Tai Holdings reported a 13% rise in revenue to $197.8 million and a 142% increase in earnings to $53.9 million for the three months ended Dec 31, 2010. The company says it will keep a close watch on the property market and will at appropriate times release more residential units for sale in the current FY.

Biosensors posts 7.3% rise in 3Q net profit to $17m

Biosensors International Group, today reported a net profit of US$13.3 million ($17 million) for its third fiscal quarter (3Q FY11), compared to US$12.4 million in 3Q FY10.

Total product sales in the third quarter were US$37.9 million, a 17% increase over the previous quarter (2Q FY11), and a 27% increase over the US$29.8 million reported in 3Q FY10. Overall growth was driven largely by continued growth in the sales of the BioMatrix family of drug‐eluting stents (DES), which increased to US$26.3 million, up 26% over 2Q FY11 and 60% over 3Q FY10.

SMRT posts 9.6% rise in 3Q net profit to $43m

SMRT says net profit for third quarter FY2011 (3QFY2011) grew by 9.6% to $43 million on account of higher revenue and absence of impairment of goodwill, although this was partially offset by higher operating expenses.

Group revenue for the third quarter increased by $19.1 million or 8.5% to $243.9 million.

Revenue from Train operations increased by $11.0 million (9.0%) in 3Q FY11 as a result of higher MRT ridership, partially offset by lower average fare for MRT due to the implementation of distance fares. In addition, the opening of Circle Line Stages 1 and 2 contributed to the increase in revenue.

Singapore 4Q private property prices rise 2.7% vs 2.9% in 3Q

Singapore’s private residential property prices rose 2.7% in the fourth quarter from the previous three months, slowing from the third quarter’s 2.9% rise, according to final estimates issued by the government Friday.

The fourth-quarter data is in line with the initial estimates published earlier this month.

STI +0.3%; rig builders rise; UOB remains cautious

The STI is +0.3% at 3231.62, extending gains in the afternoon helped by gains for rig builders after Keppel Corp. (BN4.SG) announces yet another order win.

Overall market volume is tepid at 975 million worth $953 million, with 272 gainers and 1823 decliners. After the STI made a sharp 1.2% rise yesterday, UOB KayHian says “technicals may appear to be turning positive but we advise investors not to plunge into the market.”

Frasers Commercial Trust posts 6.7% rise in 1Q distributable income to $7.9m

Frasers Commercial Trust says gross revenue was for the first quarter ended Dec 31, 2010, was $29 million, 2.3% lower as compared to a year ago.

This was mainly due to lower contribution from Cosmo Plaza as a result of the expiry of a significant tenancy in August 2010.

Correspondingly, net property income was 2.4% lower at $22.9 million.

Jan 25: Singapore stocks may rise on Wall St, Keppel Land in focus

Singapore shares may climb higher on Tuesday after Wall Street indices closed up overnight as confidence returned in the global economy’s growth prospects.

Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index <.FTSTI> closed up 0.04% at 3,185.76 on Monday.

Here are some stocks and factors to watch:

Keppel Land (KLAN.SI), Singapore’s third-largest property developer, may be in focus after it posted an eight-fold rise in fourth quarter net profit, helped by a $363.8 million one-time gain from the sale of its one-third interest in a large office project.

Singapore’s ComfortDelGro (CMDG.SI) said its subsidiary in China has been awarded 800 new taxi licences by the Chengdu Municipal government, making it the second largest taxi operator in the city with 1,050 taxis.

Electronics contract manufacturer Valuetronics (VLUE.SI) said on Tuesday its net profit for the three months ended December more than doubled to HK$31.6 million ($674,000) from HK$13.5 million a year earlier, due to stronger orders from its customers.

Boustead Singapore (BTSS.SI) said its wholly-owned subsidiary won a $25 million contract to design, engineeer and construct a demineralisation plant in Singapore.

Singapore CPI rise beats expectations, economists flag: Update

Consumer prices in Singapore rose a tad faster than expected in December because of costlier cars, housing, food and fuel, prompting some analysts to say that the central bank may tighten monetary policy again in April.

The consumer price index gained 4.6% in December from a year earlier, compared with a 3.8% increase in November, the Department of Statistics said in a statement Monday. The pace was the fastest in two years and beat the median 4.5% forecast from 10 analysts polled by Dow Jones Newswires.

Parkway Life REIT announces 16.6% rise in 4Q distributable income for $14.4m

Parkway Life Real Estate Investment Trust (PLife REIT) says it registered a 21.1% increase in gross revenue from $17.7 million in the previous corresponding period (4Q 2009) to $21.5 million for the fourth quarter (4Q 2010) ended 31 December 2010.

PLife REIT says this was primarily due to the full quarter revenue contribution amounting to $0.9 million from the eight Japan nursing home properties acquired in November 2009, and recognition of revenue contribution amounting to $2.5 million from the 11 Japan nursing home properties acquired in June and July 2010.
